boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Sep 14, 2008 This is not a good beer. Bottle... Poured amber/orange with a head that dissipated immediately. Aroma of floral esters and sugary malt. I felt that it was a little too carbonated and the flavors were so subtle that they were overshadowed by the carbonation. Just a spicy, sweet malt with some earthy hops. It doesn’t really do it for me. ilherps (212), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Sep 11, 2008 This does taste like a beer that I would love to drink on a cold day around a fire over a bowl of chili. There are mild malt flavors with a strongly carbonated, warm flavor. I have had better from redhook, but the name says it all, this is a good beer for the fall. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Sep 11, 2008 Bottle (12oz). Amber pour, clear, with a good-sized foamy-creamy beige lasting head. Very light aroma - sweet malt, floral, perhaps a little earthy. The taste - eww - plastic and sugar, that’s about it - maybe stale weeds soaked in pond water that’s had a big bag of Pez candies lying at the bottom for a couple of years. Light body, soft and weakly carbonated, finishes quick and leaves a linger of slight stale bitterness (maybe that’s the previous beer intruding on my palate). Pretty bleh or, at best, meh. boto (1319), Granby, Connecticut, USA Sep 11, 2008 Cask version @ Portsmouth Brewery: This one pours a cloudy, very dark golden color: it is approaching brown. It has a small off white head that left some lacing. Lighter but good aroma. It was caramel malts with some grassy hops and citrus. The taste is somewhat dry. Decent malt body, with some grassy, earthy and citrus notes. A very nice session beer. improvjock (93), Namegata-shi, Ibaraki-ken, Japan Sep 9, 2008 Pours a nice amber with medium off-white head that dissapates sorta quickly. Sweet caramel malts on the flavor. A little rich, but not too much. Very drinkable and tasty! epf33 (222), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Sep 9, 2008 i love how redhook doesn’t have seasonals, but post-seasonals and pre-seasonals, they’re all good! i would also recommend the early spring TheSponge (272), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Sep 7, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a beautiful amber color with an off-white foamy head. Flavor: Very maltly, with a medium hops, slightly sweet finish. hoplover (166), Corpus Christi, Texas, USA Sep 5, 2008 A good ale for this time of year. It was suprising. The hop character jumped out in a good way. The Saaz give it a very spicy flavor on the palate. A good warmer.
