glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 28, 2008 Clear copper w/ small head. Roasty caramel sweetness in the aroma. Good roast in the taste with just enough sweetness and definitely a bit of peat/smoke. Sharp, but not overbearing, hop punch is brief, but welcome. Overall, drinkable and enjoyable. Good fall session brew. alobar (1006), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 24, 2008 Reddish brown color with no head. Aroma of roasted malts and caramel. Tastes clearly caramel upfront with roasted malts on the back end. Nice beer. Gooney (53), Oregon, USA Aug 18, 2008 12 oz bottle from Safeway - Pretty decent amber and a good seasonal brew. Poured a nice copper color with a slight foamy head. Kind of like Spongebob Squarepants. BückDich (4785), McCall, Idaho, USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle: Amber color with light head and lacing. Nose of toasty and light cinnamon. A chewy malt swirl going on with a light earthy British hop note. Balanced tail. Very easy drinking amber ale with a little spicy something. Couldn’t get any smoky qualities though. BillKismet (1896), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 15, 2008 Gorgeous autumnal orange-amber color befitting the fall. Topped with an airy float head. Clean, fresh aromatic medley of hops, medium malts, and wheat. Distinctly minty hop flavor with a more viscous body than I expected and having warming notes. An amber with a twist. HoppyGuy (111), USA Aug 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear copper color with a medium beige head with decent lacing. Aroma is a bit faint, with malts and toffee. Flavor is a bit thin, slightly earthy with some caramel and a nutty presence. Thin mouthfeel for this kind of ale. This is not a very bold beer, fairly uninspiring, and it shouldn’t scare off too many people who don’t usually like autumn ales. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Aug 6, 2008 pours a clear amber-orange with a medium size light tan head, some lacing.
smell is faint, some caramel, some malt, roasted nuts in the back, a wee bit of lemon.
taste is creamy, caramel, malt, earthy, a little sweet, some spice, a little wood.
overall not much on flavor but drinkable. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 28, 2008 Updated: Sep 2, 2008On tap at OBF 2008--Deep, amber body with a foamy off-white head. Mildly Belgian. Phenolic, candy-funked nose. Sweet nutty-sugar finish. Grippy, not cloying, but grain-sweetened. Not my favorite, but I was drunk.
Rerate: From a bottle (thanks Mario). Poured a deep amber body with a big whitish head. Crisp, clean, nutty, metallic, smooth with some pumpkin pie spiciness. Very nice autumn beer.
