Aroma is a bit faint, with malts and toffee. Flavor is a bit thin, slightly earthy with some caramel and a nutty presence. Thin mouthfeel for this kind of ale. This is not a very bold beer, fairly uninspiring, and it shouldn’t scare off too many people who don’t usually like autumn ales. robforbes (1085), Bremerton, Washington, USA

Mildly Belgian. Phenolic, candy-funked nose. Sweet nutty-sugar finish. Grippy, not cloying, but grain-sweetened. Not my favorite, but I was drunk.
Rerate: From a bottle (thanks Mario). Poured a deep amber body with a big whitish head. Crisp, clean, nutty, metallic, smooth with some pumpkin pie spiciness. Very nice autumn beer. phishpond417 (1935), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jun 2, 2008 I had this one a while back. I wasn’t really impressed with this beer, i thought it was a little weak for an autumnal ale. it pours a bright copper colour with a consistent amount of sweetness in the lightly malted finish as well as the aroma. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 20, 2008 12 oz bottle: Coppery red pour with a skimpy head. The nose offers a nice dose of caramalized malt with toffee, buttery bread and a touch of sweet chocolate. While the nose displays the delicate nature of the crystal malts, the body is a bit more astrigent and forced. Scattered notes of sugary malt are jumbled with some alcohol pepper and watery caramel. Drinks easy, but I was hoping for more after the nice olfactory introduction. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of caramel, roast, and a mild hop presence. The flavor is slightly sweet caramel, slight roast and mild traces of bitterness in the finish. Goodgrief (1149), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Oct. 2007 - Maybe I’m rating a little harsh...there was nothing actually wrong with this beer. Pour was copper, clear and a decent head and actually nice lacing. Very faint aroma of nutty malts. Flavor was weak caramel, some nuttiness and a very mild bitterness. A bit watery, thin and weak all the way around, though. These Redhook beers are just a bit weak and underwhelming. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA
