Very malty character in the nose and flavor, not much hops to be found. reddish thin hue with a thin watery taste. Kinz (2202), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Medium orange, nice head, biscuit accented aroma. Flavor concentrates on biscuit malts, and a faint hint of floral and earthy hops emerge before fading into a slightly roasty malt finish. Not bad. Always a shame that Redhook had to retire their best beer. Cybercat (787), Georgia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 28, 2007 Pours a beautiful clear brown-orange with a nice thick head. Aroma is mostly malty, with a hint of spice and a fairly strong, but not alcohol, nip to it. Flavor is rich and zingy; both hops and malt are present, with hints of spices and a whisper of fruit. This ale goes down smooth and crisp but still has an edge to it. blindeyedbetty (151), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 28, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Poured cloudy amber with fluffy off white head which left abundant lacing as it dissipated. Aroma of sweet malt and bread. Front palate is almost nutty with caramel undertones as it moves to mid palate and finishes with a crisp, hoppy flavor. Although it’s not an Octoberfest or a Marzen, this is a nice bodied amber, not too heavy but with enough substance to be a nice fall beer without overwhelming. I could definitely have more than one on a crisp fall afternoon. yayforbeer (647), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Pint on tap at the Mello Mushroom, Jacksonville. Clear orange-amber pour with a small white head. Mild aroma of malt and hops. Flavor is pretty good with semi-sweet malts up front, notes of caramel and peat, then a decent showing of spicy hops before it fades with a faint bitterness. Not bad for an amber. A little better than I expected from Redhook. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 23, 2007 Pours a clear amber-orange with a pitted, frothy, off-white head that leaves cobweb lacing on the glass. The nose is pretty muted with notes of nutty malty and lightly fruity hops. Thin on the palate, but beefed up with solid carbonation, it finishes with a fairly dry, lightly bitter finish. The flavor is toasty malt with undertones of caramel, bread and faint peat concluding with an earthy light Noble hop finish. A pretty decent amber and thankfully different than the typical micro-amber. In fact, this one tastes more like an ESB, to me. prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 23, 2007 From the tap at The Bar. OK, a couple things: (1) This is NOT an Oktoberfest or a Marzen, but instead an Amber Ale; (2) This is a thin but malty Amber, and it’s not bad; (3) I was more impressed with the taste than I thought I’d be, given the quick-fading head and minimal aroma. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 21, 2007 12 Bottle: Pours a clear light to medium red-amber, some off-white bubbles but not much of a head,
toasted malt and sweetness, bread and faint peas(?), malt flavor, with a good amount of hop bite, little malt sweetness but it quickly fades,
mouth feel was thin, an ok Octberfest but not really exciting.
