KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA Sep 26, 2007 The head on this pour was outstanding, flavorful and frothy. I am not a fan of Redhook but this beer was a nice suprise. Dark amber in color with little hops. LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2007 This wasn’t too bad. As far as beer in general goes, I like it. Lumped in as an amber ale, it’s not as tasty as most. Everything was middle of the road. The dark amber pour with the thin white ring for a head. The aroma of sticky malt. The taste of mild malt with a little hops in the aftertaste to even it out. If this sounds vague, it’s because the beer is vague and not very exciting. Not bad, either, though. jeremytoni (1072), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA Sep 22, 2007 From bottle poured an amber color with very little head. Decent flavor, with a quick finish. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA Sep 22, 2007 Wow an east coast only fall seasonal and its an amber, a stroke of macro genius. I can only guess that the east coast only spring seasonal will be an American wheat. -------------------Wait a minute does the commercial description actually say "as the days of autumn get shorter..."
As for the beer, in each category.....average, average, below-average, below-average, and average. Actually this has a fairly off aftertaste and I would not recommend it beyond a small tasting sample just so you can say you had it. dlovell2 (137), Columbia, Maryland, USA Sep 20, 2007 This is a nice autumn offering. The amber coloring is perfect for a fall beverage. Has a very crisp start and then a nice smooth finish. Nice alternative to the maltier Oktoberfests. natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA Sep 20, 2007 Updated: Nov 9, 2007Piours amber with a nice head. Kind of boring but it definately reminded me of a fall style beer. It was kind of malty with a fairly smooth finish. cheapdark (2011), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 17, 2007 This must be an old avatar shown here. On my bottle it says ’late’ harvest. Iced tea color and appearance. No bubbles rising within. Strong mildly sweet candy aroma. has some malt or hop presence in the initial taste but it don’t leave much of a bitter impression. This has a reversed typical hop impact, it’s bitter at first then fades, compared to many that build in a bitter way thru the session. More gentleman like. Some carbonation. Not bad for a fest beer. Could use a few manners on the taste buds. Finish is medium short mild industrial pilsner hop bitterness. MarkBarnes (264), Waterville, New York, USA Sep 13, 2007 Sept. 13, 2007; 12 oz. bottle. More of a Marzen than an Amber Ale. Particularly enjoyed the malty/bitter palate on this one, but must agree somewhat with a previous rater who found no "glaring faults", just a "boring recipe" -- which pretty much sums up my experience with this competent, but relatively undistinguished, brewery.
