BrandonB (87), Denton, Texas, USA Dec 21, 2006 Bottle. Orange gold pour with a small quickly dying head. Not much of an aroma, but a nice taste with hop and malt and caramel hints. Decent finish, not bad.
jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 19, 2006 Bottle. Almost foul aroma with a amber/brown body and thin head. Tastes like a bad combination of malts and hops. not smooth or balanced but more like a mess. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Dec 10, 2006 Pours a clear medium brown into the glass, with a slightly retentive frothy head leaving sporadic lace. A bit of a malty nose. Decent malt contingency, with a good bit of hops that provide a stiff enough bitter back. Decent brew, honestly. I really wasn’t expecting much out of this, and even though it’s not the epitome of complexity, it’s got a nice enough body to it, a lasting finish, and a fair rating from me. ilikestuff (222), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Dec 4, 2006 I liked this one more than the ESB. Has a slightly sweey maltiness that is complemented my the light hop crispness. A good everyday brew. melvin980 (184), Pennsylvania, USA Dec 4, 2006 Enjoyable. Had a decent autumn taste. Nothing out of the ordinary though. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Dec 3, 2006 Bottle. Pours clear orange gold with thin off-white head. Aroma is bitter, caramel, molasses. Flavor is bitter, caramel, malt, grass. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Dec 1, 2006 12 oz bottle: Hazy orangish w/ a lasting cream colored head. Grainy malt aroma right off the bat. Bready and caramel malt follow like a line of chicks following mother hen. Some light herbal hop aromas. Also a hint of roasty malt. Balance is overall good with a dry, short lived herbal hop flavored aftertaste. Malt character is a bit weaker than in the aroma, but toasty, lightly nutty, and a bit of caramel. Lighter medium body, higher medium carbonation, smooth m/f. Overall not a bad beer! Nice complexities for a mass produced micro. KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA Nov 27, 2006 12 oz bottle: You know, this was much better than I was expecting. And I’ll go so far as to say pretty tastey. It poured a nice reddish-golden color. A small/fait aroma, but what was there, was good & nice. Caramel, toffee, citrus, malts, bread, etc. The taste was similar to the aroma, more malts that hops, but not too sweet like many malty beers ... and had just enough of a balance.
