| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2007 Pours an autumn colored bright, clear copper-orange hue. Creates a dense 1/2" beige head which unfortunately dies out much too quickly. No lacing noted. Malt dominated aromas are expereinced with tame, but pleasant notes of caramel, toasted bread, raw grain along with some fruity apricot-like aromas and spice lingering faintly in the background. Mouthfeel is a bit watery and thin, but refreshingly light. Flavors were a tad more assertive as compared to the wimpy nose. Toasted malt, light caramel candy are the mainstay with some faint spice, smoke and fruitiness detected. Unfortunately a distracting slight metallic flavor intrudes throughout. Overall a decent session Amber-style ale, but a bit of a lightweight for a cool, crisp autumn day. Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA

Very hoppy, bitter, some soapiness also. Tastes a lot like an ESB. Nothing special about this. gsmitty80 (653), Washington DC, USA

The flavors were a little off but seeing as how i had it in the middle of the summer, im sure it was an old keg. yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Pint on tap at the Mello Mushroom, Jacksonville. Clear orange-amber pour with a small white head. Mild aroma of malt and hops. Flavor is pretty good with semi-sweet malts up front, notes of caramel and peat, then a decent showing of spicy hops before it fades with a faint bitterness. Not bad for an amber. A little better than I expected from Redhook. MatSciGuy (643), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 27, 2008 [Bottle] Pours a clearish caramel with a small off white head. Slight hop nose with a touch of caramel. Flavor is more like a marzen, sort of lagery characteristics. Caramel flavor. talon1117 (635), Bellvue, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 29, 2008 Pours a sparkling clear, orangey color with a fairly small, off-white, and fizzy head which is mostly diminishing and leaves minimal lace. Nose is faint with typical Saaz spice, faint toasted caramel, and hints at other spices (nutmeg?). Flavor is akward with the spicy and lightly rustic hop notes clashing with the light, rich caramel; other notes of light toasted breads and faint nuttiness. Palate is light to medium, lively, and thin. Finishes short with the moderately light bitterness lingering beyond the caramel sweetness. The hops and the malts do not match whic is a shame because the malt base could have been good. Not the best from RH. KUEric (635), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2006 12 oz bottle: You know, this was much better than I was expecting. And I’ll go so far as to say pretty tastey. It poured a nice reddish-golden color. A small/fait aroma, but what was there, was good & nice. Caramel, toffee, citrus, malts, bread, etc. The taste was similar to the aroma, more malts that hops, but not too sweet like many malty beers ... and had just enough of a balance.
