COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The distinctive India Pale Ale style was developed by British brewers in the 1700s in order to create a sturdy beer that could survive long sea journeys to far-flung colonies where troops eagerly awaited the arrival of this sublime liquid refreshment. Long Hammer takes the traditional IPA brewing process one step further by dry hopping, or adding hops at the end of the brewing process with Cascade hops to give a wonderful hop aroma but not the overpowering hop taste. Long Hammer IPA is the beer you find yourself reaching for again and again, no matter what the occasion. Long Hammer pairs nicely with grilled meats, seafood, Mexican, Indian, Thai or other spicy ethnic foods. Available year round.

Hazy yellow with thin white head, diminishing quickly. Light floral hop nose with some sweet malts mixed in. Pretty water with a long bad bitter finish. I generally like IPAs but this one is not a very good example of the style. A light citrus hop flavor comes through but for the most part itís just bitter, and watery on top of it. No thanks, next.

Draft @ the Wach: Letís Go Flyers!! Pours a clear amber w/ a small off-white head. Aroma is piney hops, all hops. Flavor is very hoppy w/ a hint of caramel malt, but mostly hops. Palate is pretty average & the beer pretty one dimensional. Not bad, not great. Letís see, this or Bud Light? Hmmm...

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2008 Purchased 12 pack. This is quite good. I was pleasantly surprised. Itís got a nice crisp hoppy bite to it but not overpowering so perhaps it could use a touch more flavor. Very smooth. A nice entry level IPA. The gentle sweet bitter hoppiness makes it extremely easy to drink. A good summer selection.

Draft. Bready nose with slight hop notes. Mostly malt, mild bitterness, drinkable but by no means an IPA.

Clear light amber color. Mild perfumy, piney hop smell. Medium body and smooth. A decent flavor meshes caramel malt sweetness with a mildly bitter hop finish. Easy drinking. Better than Redhooks reputation.10157

Draught at Zodoís. Hazy yellow with a big white head. Indistinct hops in the aroma. Pretty clean malts, lightly hopped for a west coast IPA, but still enough to let you know what it is. Thereís a slight soapiness that keeps it from being better, but overall its pretty drinkable.

bottle - Pours slight hazy yellow with a one finger, lingering white head. The aroma is of course of hops. Thereís some very mild citrus in there. The flavor is led by the hops as expected. The hops are strong enough for a good IPA and while they leave the characteristic bitter aftertaste, they donít overpower the beer. However, thereís very little character here. Iím not getting the flavorful malts and citrus/pine notes that make a really good IPA.

A strong and flavorful IPA, a recommened buy since it is pretty easy to find in stores.

Strong, flavorful indian pale ale. Very hoppy much like most ipaís. Foggy look to it and a nice big head that last three forths of the way down the glass. Nice beer. Must try.

Bottle at Holic, Kichijoji, Tokyo. Hazy amber with a small head. Green apples and citrus aroma. Good fruity and bitter flavours. A great IPA.
