I was long of the opinion that Pac NW ales were generally overhopped.. this was before I really got into IPAs, now I think I might have been wrong. I havent had RedHook Long Hammer IPA in forever and what I find is a very light, mild IPA that is much more of a light Pale Ale than an IPA. It is light in color, has a nice citrus and straw aroma but has very little distinct hop taste. It will fool you with its 6.5% alcohol content because you cant taste it! If you would like an IPA that you can drink a bunch of with no lingering traditional IPA bitterness then this is for you. If you want a tasty lip smacking IPA, why not try one of Stone’s IPAs.

It says IPA on its label but it’s more similar to an APA. Golden with white head, caramel and hoppy aroma. Tastes fruity and hoppy, without going into too much bitterness. Nice simple and easy drinking beer, nothing more that this.

Bottle. A- Pine, spruce, juniper, herbs, A- Orange color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Pine, juniper, bitter, caramel. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, spicy finish. O- Started off smelling like I walked into a damn Colorado pine forest. Tons of pine and herbs. Taste was about the same with some caramel that subdued as it warmed. Not as bad as I envisioned it to be, but not for me.

Pours clear amber, good head retention. Mild floral and woody-like aroma. Bland flavor, malty and lightly hopped. Meh.

Et øl som ikke tar noen sjanser, og dermed blir ganske kjedelig. Ikke IPA, selv om det står på flasken. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Lys gjennomsiktig med lavt skum. Anonym aroma av vag frukt. Smaken er malt og mild frukt. Tynn konsistens.

Was disappointed with this beer. This was a weak IPA. Very low bitterness. Tasted like a coors light with a hint of hops.

Pours light golden with a fluffy white head that lasts quite a while. Smells of soggy cereal. Getting the hops up front, slight citrus, no pine. Strong malt back. Tastes more like a pale ale than an IPA.

Moderate persistent foam. Estimates aroma of mixed citrus fruit. Luscious caramel malt meetings first taste buds, then a delicate hoppy flavor of grapefruit and lemon with light sweetness of peach / mango. A little bit of pine needles felt in the aftertaste which is also dry. The light carbonation gives a soft and mellow IPA which is quite delicious.
