The distinctive India Pale Ale style was developed by British brewers in the 1700s in order to create a sturdy beer that could survive long sea journeys to far-flung colonies where troops eagerly awaited the arrival of this sublime liquid refreshment. Long Hammer takes the traditional IPA brewing process one step further by dry hopping, or adding hops at the end of the brewing process with Cascade hops to give a wonderful hop aroma but not the overpowering hop taste. Long Hammer IPA is the beer you find yourself reaching for again and again, no matter what the occasion. Long Hammer pairs nicely with grilled meats, seafood, Mexican, Indian, Thai or other spicy ethnic foods. Available year round.

bottled. Hazy pale orange (piss) colored ale. Nose of lite grass w/ alcohol. The taste here is slightly off-putting w/ that grassy thing going on thru the end. The hops never bite & are far from crisp. Watery. A tad stronger pale ale that is close to being drinkable. Redhook flops again.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass every time Iíve had it. The appearance was a hazy burnt orange color along the sides and taking on a darker ruddy brown color in the center. The head was about a fingerís worth of white foaminess that dissipated within about forty seconds leaving a film of a lacing. The smell had some light sweet pine but only after a bit of warming. The taste was mainly bitter, it really took some warming to let the flavors show their face. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was harsh just like a good AIPA should be. Overall, everything is on par to make it a go to AIPA however, every time Iíve had it I always think that the aroma just doesnít seem to show enough.

Light and bright IPA... Udemærket, med citrus og humle... Ikke verdens bedste IPA

Bottled 0,33L. Nice orange clearly color with moderate bubbly aspect and creamy head duration. Frsh hoppy and flowery aroma, notes of cereals, aged flower and soft cortex. Medium prickly mouth, equilibrate and long bitterness.

Small distinct Lipton ice tea style bottle - Lager like appearance, no carbonation seen, no head. Smooth taste with a little touch of hoppy fruit blend on the nose. Really easy to drink, lovely cool.

On tap at The Hand in Hand, Kemptown, Brighton. Clouded orange gold with white head. Sweet and pretty watery beer. lemonade, hints of gooseberry perhaps. Quite poor.

I remember this being a log better. Maybe the bar I was drinking at just didnít have any other decent IPAs on draught. Maybe they were good times. Anyway, itís just alright. Not a bad nose, hoppy and citrus but the mouth kinda falls off. Nothing spectacular but kinda drinkable. Just not heavily flavored

Pours a slightly hazy gold. Medium white head that quickly dissipates. Mild aroma with hints of caramel and citrus. Initial flavor is a grassy bitterness thatís too heavy and cuts through the malt. The finish is better, but thereís not enough nuance going on here. The blunt instruments on hops and malt are not working well together. Not terrible, but not on my list to buy again.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2014 Easy going IPA that tastes very pre hop-wars. Light floral aroma. Light malt, almost too thin and slightly sweet, with some citrus hop flavors and mild bitterness. Far more approachable than most PNW produced IPAs, and relatively cheap (about $1 a piece). Drink this after mowing your lawn.
