COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The distinctive India Pale Ale style was developed by British brewers in the 1700s in order to create a sturdy beer that could survive long sea journeys to far-flung colonies where troops eagerly awaited the arrival of this sublime liquid refreshment. Long Hammer takes the traditional IPA brewing process one step further by dry hopping, or adding hops at the end of the brewing process with Cascade hops to give a wonderful hop aroma but not the overpowering hop taste. Long Hammer IPA is the beer you find yourself reaching for again and again, no matter what the occasion. Long Hammer pairs nicely with grilled meats, seafood, Mexican, Indian, Thai or other spicy ethnic foods. Available year round.

Can. Low fluffy white lasting head. Clear amber body. Mild barley malt aroma with grassy notes and hints of honey and caramel. Weak apple pear notes as well. Thinbodied watery apple pear grass caramel flavor with little hops bitternsse, low carbonation and a somewhat odd long finish.

Sampled from a bottle at McCormick and Schmick’s on Wacker Drive, Chicago. Golden colour and strong white head. Good citrus hop aromas, and a taste balanced between biscuity malts and mildly grapefruity hops. The taste is a little bland, with a slightly discordant dry bitterness. I would like a stronger hop presence in the taste here, but not a bad beer.

Call it a pale ale and i’ll give you half a point more. Malty not much hops. Average beer with a light hop bill. Nice lasting head. Malty but not sweet. This isn’t as bad as you would think by rating. But for an ipa pretty horrible with light aroma and light hop.

12 oz bottle from Niagara Falls Wegmans. Pours a hazy bright orange colour with small white head and lots of floaties. Aroma is fruity with citric and floral hops as well as biscuity and caramel maltiness. Flavour has some nice tropical fruity and floral hoppiness and a solid biscuity malt presence as well as a little sweetish caramel. Carbonation relatively gentle. Goes down easy but has a little character.

From a bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium thick head, very smooth with a big fruity aroma and mild hoppy flavours with a lingering bitterness, not as hoppy as I’d expected for an IPA, must be the dry hopping. Good stuff.

12 oz bottle poured into pint glass. Subtle hop aroma, absolutely no head, no lacing. Didn’t care much for the taste. Many better options available, wouldn’t suggest.

Bottle 0.335L. Slightly hazy deep golden body with small, fizzy, white head, fully diminishing with virtually no lacing. Heavy hoppy (flowers, citrus) and light malty (grains, some caramel) aroma. Moderate-to-heavy bitter flavour with light-to-moderate sweet character. Light-to-medium body with watery texture; flat carbonation.

Can@The Social, Copenhagen (25DKK weekly special) - golden pour with a good white head. Aroma and taste is sweet fruity and malty, some biscuity caramel malts, citrus fruits, some pine and grassy notes, good thirst quencher and easy drinking for the abv. Nice.
