Bottle. The pour was a sparkling clear medium yellow with a slight orange hue and an average sized (1-2 finger) white frothy head that lasted for a good while leaving behind a thick foamy cap which produced some fair spotty lacing. The aroma was mild to say the least of a mild hay like malt, an herbal hop and a light moldy yeast with notes of caramel, toffee and a bit of citrus. The taste was mildly sweet and acidic with a note of caramel at first and then became mildly hoppy with notes of toffee and citrus at the end. The flavor lasted an average duration, with a hoppy citrus taste left behind to linger for just a little while longer. Mouthfeel was light in body with a dry, watery texture and a medium carbonation. Overall an average tasting IPA, a bit hoppy but nothing to overbearing...

Clear orange - reddish beer, with a clear head, the aroma is strong in hops, with some floral, citrus, herbs and pine notes, citrus, herbs. When is tasted it has a light sweetness, medium bitterness, medium body with some malt flavors and a really hoppy flavor

Slightly hazy golden color with white head. Aroma has some fruity, tropical hops and some butter biscuits. Taste is balanced, you get the hops and also the malts. Aftertaste gets quite bitter. Quite watery for 6.2% abv but overall itís a decent IPA.

Bottle. Nice, not very strong, citrus, malt, pine aroma. Clear, gold appearance with pretty nice lacing. Taste is good, light, little bit sweet. Nothing very special but very drinkable.

Draft. Not a lot to choose from for the craft guy, so I had to try this one. Poured a clear dark yellow with small white head. Aroma was very faint to me, but it was an open top glass, so that could add to it. Light citrus and herbal notes on the nose. Flavor was decent with citrus, mainly lemon, herbal, some grass notes. Body was light, texture was thin, carbonation was average. Finish was quick and smooth. Ok, but nothing Iíd seek out.

Nothing special to the eastern beer drinker that loves west-coast style IPA

Maker: Redhook Brewery, Woodinville, Washington, United States *** Beer: Redhook Long Hammer IPA *** (bottled, unfiltered, 355ml) Style: American Pale Ale (APA) *** ALC.VOL.: 6.2% (not 6.5!) *** "Dry hopped with Cascade hops to give a wonderful hop aroma but not the overpowering hop taste. Long Hammer IPA is the beer you find yourself reaching for again and again, no matter what the occasion." [brewery note] *** Colour: Golden yellow, slightly hazy. Small, fluffy white head. *** Nose: Grapefruit, pine, resin, grass. *** Texture: Medium body, slightly fizzy. Medium carbonation. *** Taste: Dry, moderately sour citrus notes and pine, hints of malt. Mild pine/resin towards the middle, citrus notes now drier still. More pine/resin in the finish, muted citrus. Moderately long after taste, again of citrus and pine. *** Impressions: Straightforward to a fault, this mainstream APA does not particularly impress. Very dry, not a lot of different flavours, no real depth. Good thirst-quencher, but certainly no top-notch exponent of its style.

Taste from a friend (tap) @ High Finance, Sandia Peak. Pours cloudy amber with a low head. Aroma us fruity malts. Flavor is malts, fruits and hops. Decent, if a bit ordinary.

Bottle. Whole Foods Market, Piccadilly, London. Clear gold. Barely a head. Bottled 12 weeks ago, and if there was much of an aroma, then itís mostly been and gone. Try hard and thereís a little earthy hop. Light toffee malts. Taste is light sweet, with a little juicy bitterness. Palate is lively, and fairly crisp. Finishes light bitter. Itís ok. Pretty drinkable, without being in your face.

Appearance: clear pale gold with a short soapy ivory head diminishing gradually to a thin cap, patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: caramel malt, pine resin, citrus, grassy. (6/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (6/10) Medium body, moderate carbonation, medium duration bitter finish. (3/5) Yeah, OK, bit of a shelf turd. The dry hopping seems to have faded a little (hardly surprising, given the age) leaving the base medium IBU rating. Not unpleasant, but not all that interesting. (12/20)

Bottle left at my house from fantasy football draft. Poured to glass. Nose is a pungent grass with light orange skin. A dusty Munich malt aroma as well. Not an overly inviting aroma. Crystal clear, deep yellow, small white head. Taste is bitter, moderately pithy up front, followed by a faint citrus note, then falls flat into a watery finish. Ends with a moderate to high alcohol warming in the chest. Not really good at all.
