Six barley malts and two hop varieties result in a surprisingly smooth, well balanced dark beer. Mudslinger pairs nicely with grilled meats, stews, fowl, and even smoked oysters or salmon. I liked this to an extent appreciably above the current average, which is close to 3.0. I thought it struck a nice caramel note, with plenty of brown ale character and a lovely roasted note in the finish. There was something that seemed multi-dimensional and balanced, certainly very drinkable. Very good within the style.

Bottle... Poured deep, amber/sorta brown with a thick, off-white head. Malty, nutty, caramel nose. A light bodied beer, easy drinking with a caramel-malt and nutty character. Finished short and clean with a mild hoppiness that stayed way in the back there.

Bottle thanks to angrypirate06. Pours with an off-white head and a copper-brown body. Aroma of brown sugar, caramel and pine. Taste is caramel, light hops and pretty watery. Creamy carbonation. Not a horrible Redhook offering.
