Bottle from Capone’s. Pours mahogany, clear, with 1-fimger eggshell head. Nose is malty, red winey fruit, berries. Tastes very malty, with vinous fruit, cacao, some hops, and an overall sweetness with a pretty smooth finish.

Bottle @ home. Burgundy appearance with a light tan head. Toffee, caramel, nutty, toasty, brown malty nose. Toasty, slightly nutty, a touch bitter, brown malty flavor. Not all that exciting of a beer but decent.

Bottle 355 ml
Aroma dark caramel, honey, light clean hop on top. Sweet sided yet not cloying. Slight fruity notes at finish. 7-
Appearance dark amber with hints of brown. Lighter tanned top.
Flavor and Palate : Medium bodied. Malty, soft textured base. Sweet with slight nutty character, faint touch of chocolate. Fruity fig like finish. Fine but overall bit too sweet even for my taste.

Ibrew2or3 (5777) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - AUG 6, 2011
12oz bottle pours clear deep red-amber with thin tan head. The aroma has some roasted malts mixing with bits of caramel malts, chocolate malts, spicy hops and black licorice. The taste offers up notes of roasted malts, a pulse of sweet dark fruity esters and then rolling into spicy and earthy hops. Into the finish chocolate malts surface and then give way to a mild level of burnt malts off into the after taste.

Ernest (5627) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 17, 2011
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, caramel), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a note of plum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Simple but ok in the nose. A tad clunky and dirty in the mouth. Boring and forgettable.

Bottle. Reddish-brown and quite active. Caramel is the predominate character. Super, super smooth, velvety even. Easy drinker with no obtuse, sticky sugars that sometimes burden brown ales. Very nice. (#4975, 4/7/2013)

Foam on top was light tan wit a brown and red tinted hue in the glass. sweet malt and greenhouse aromas. There is a strong soil and fertilizer smell. I got tastes of caramel and light milk chocolate. There was also an earthy soil taste. A light and smooth body.
