Bottle sample at the pumpkin beer tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 9/4/14. Pours darkest brown in color with a thick tan head. Aroma of cinnamon, ginger, malt and slight roast. Flavor of malt, anise and ginger before a roasty finish.

Redhook Out of Your Gourd Pumpkin Porter has potential but falls flat (literally). Sweet malty aroma coming from a dark brown pour and a fizzy head that quickly goes flat. Taste has a nice balance of malt with subtle hints of smoke and pumpkin flavors. Mouth feel is a little thin, though. Out Of Your Gourd is an original take on a pumpkin, but needs better execution. (I’ll update if this first bottle is an aberration.)

Pours burnt chocolate brown, aroma of pumpkin/molasses/cinnamon. Palate is left clean with minimal aftertaste. This is a fantastic fall beer. Once the weather starts to drop and football is being played...this is the perfect beer.

12 oz bottle. Dark, opaque, red-brown body with a decent head. Smells good but this is an overly spiced ale. Good bitter/sweet balance. Pumpkin pie spices dominate and mask the malt base.

Pour is a very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is roasty malts with some spice. Flavor is an equally nice roasted malt with some cinnamon and spice. Finish is thin but has enough spice to be noticeable. Not great but a pumpkin porter is something different.

Smoky flavor. Nice dark color. Full and nice color. There was a good head to it also.

Bottle. Pours a thick and near-black color with very little head on there at all. Nose is a bit roasty and somewhat sweet, with a hefty amount of pumpkin and muted spice notes - just the way I like my pumpkin beers. Taste is just a tad sweet and ends up creamy, with the pumpkin really coming through. Pretty decent.

"2013 relabeled Out Of Your Gourd. Not bad, especially as I am not a huge Redhook fan...but I bought this as the premise of a pumpkin porter is a good one. Chocolately aroma and flavor. Slightly thinner feel than expected, light spices and pumpkin as well on the nose and flavor. Very lite ginger. Overall not bad, but likely a one timer."

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Clove, cinnamon, grassy aroma. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Light toffee, light coffee, grass, cloves, some cinnamon... Its a bit thin, and a bit too clovey. Not my thing.
