smells like black licorice to me...extremely dark..can’t see through it...dark, heavy malty....tastes a bit like licorice too...not very good...very complex but too many spices...guess it would be good occasionally...but not just to have a beer

Pours near black, two finger head. Smell lots of pumpkin and cinnamon. Taste great coffee roast and pumpkin. Medium body, velvety mouthfeel. Good

12oz bottle poured to shaker. I’m relatively new on the pumpkin beer bandwagon. They seem to be all the rage so I’m giving them a shot. I am a traditional porter lover however. The nose is intriguing and for me somewhat unexpected. The spices associated with pumpkin pie are present and jump to the fore. Cardamon/ cinnamon nutmeg some ginger and especially clove Yet I was left wanting in finding the strong coffee or bittersweet chocolate notes I love in a good porter. The taste follows the nose. There are nice savory spice flavors but not nearly enough pumpkin oomph! The bitterness from the dark roasted malts and hops offer a nice bite. But the mouthfeel is a bit thin and not as rounded as it could be. The maple syrup does make a cameo appearance at the end of the swallow. I would have liked a touch more. Overall an interesting effort not fully realized. I wouldn’t put this on the Thanksgiving table but it would be quite serviceable kicking back on the couch with Friday’s turkey sandwiches and leftovers.

Brown in color, hazy with a thin tan head. Nice porter flavor thick chocolate and good finish. The pumpkin was light and creamy in the addition. I was hoping for more pumpkin and spice flavors.

Bottle. Appearance: ruby black, medium brown head. Aroma: toasty, malty, nice subtle pumpkin spice aroma with a hint of maple syrup, a hint of coffee there too. Nice. Flavour: creamy mouthfeel with a mild coffee and chocolate flavour, finely balanced in the background is a great pumpkin pie flavour, again with maple syrup. Long chocolate and pumpkin finish. Lovely.

12 ounce bottle from Sampler Pack, slightly spicy, good roastiness. Mild for a spiced beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle pours with a nice rich looking mahogany body that has gold to copper edges and supports a tan head. The modest aroma offers up some dark roasted malts, burnt malts and then a mild pumpkin and spice sensation. The taste starts with a nice yet slim nugget of pumpkin and then it quickly picks up cinnamon to nutmeg spices before a hit of dark roasted malts and burnt malts takes this to midway and into the roasty finish. Darn nice stuff.

Bottle. Dark brown with a thin head. Aroma is pumpkin and some spice. Flavour is mostly cinnamon and nutmeg, a little watery pumpkin. Overall a bit watery, and strange.

Very dark brown with an inch of tan head. Aroma is mildly earthy and spicy, with standard pumpkin spices. Taste is the same, though even more muted, with a slight baking cocoa bitter-sweetness. $3/22oz

Bottle poured a clear deep dark brown hue w/ a small tan head diminishing to a thin ring w/ nice lacing. Big spicy aromas. Initial flavor is a light sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are cinnamon, nutmeg, squash, coke-a-cola, and roasted malt. Medium bodied, watery mouthfeel, avg carbonation, and spices linger in the finish.
