Out of Your Gourd Pumpkin Porter is dark chestnut brown in color and is made with pureed pumpkin. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are added to the whirlpool and maple syrup is added during fermentation. Lightly hopped with Northern Brewer hops, Pumpkin Porter is a full-bodied, rich and roasty porter perfect for all things fall – eating turkey, watching football or drinking with your buddies around a bonfire.

12oz bottle poured to shaker. I’m relatively new on the pumpkin beer bandwagon. They seem to be all the rage so I’m giving them a shot. I am a traditional porter lover however. The nose is intriguing and for me somewhat unexpected. The spices associated with pumpkin pie are present and jump to the fore. Cardamon/ cinnamon nutmeg some ginger and especially clove Yet I was left wanting in finding the strong coffee or bittersweet chocolate notes I love in a good porter. The taste follows the nose. There are nice savory spice flavors but not nearly enough pumpkin oomph! The bitterness from the dark roasted malts and hops offer a nice bite. But the mouthfeel is a bit thin and not as rounded as it could be. The maple syrup does make a cameo appearance at the end of the swallow. I would have liked a touch more. Overall an interesting effort not fully realized. I wouldn’t put this on the Thanksgiving table but it would be quite serviceable kicking back on the couch with Friday’s turkey sandwiches and leftovers.

12oz into a glass. Pours a dark brown. Minimal head, slight brown lacing. Aroma of dry cocoa, pumpkin, roasted malt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Taste of mild pumpkin, dry squash, mashed sweet potatoes, and cinnabon. Dark mixed chocolate brown extravaganza in color. Decent.

Dark brown opaque brew with dark tan fine head, roasty malty aroma but not much smell, tasty. Best pumpkin brew ive had, toasty, malty, a little hoppy bitter, but with a touch of pumpkin taste. Less pumpkin pie taste but more real pumpkin taste.

Pours dark and dangerous with a tan head. The aroma is heavy caramel and coffee. The flavor is the the same with an aftertaste of chocolate. The palate hangs with an unsweetened chocolate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

slim bottle pour..would be nice to see more offerings in this style bottle for a change of pace..fairly dark chestnut brown hue per description..nose is probably the star here with some noticeable real pumpkin..getting a bit of that ginger with smoothes things out..overall creates a real light bodied offering that is not weak yet not too strong but has a lot of fall flavor that would pair well with all things that are awesome about fall...enjoyed this more than anticipated..fairly smooth..well balanced..worth a shot...nutty..pumpkin presence rounded out with a porter familiarity...interesting to say the least.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 7/31/2014. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, brown sugar, herbal, and roast/spice earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast malt, pumpkin, spices, and light herbal hop notes; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, brown sugar, herbal, and roast/spice earthiness. Slight roast/spice bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, gingerbread, brown sugar, and roast/spice earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of dark/roasted malt, pumpkin, spices, and light herbal hop flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice pumpkin spiced porter. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/roasted malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

A nice porter, more pumpkin in the smell then the taste. Pours a red tinted black with a super thick tan head. Smells of spices, cinnamon and a bit of pumpkin. Taste is super creamy, with a nice bit of vanilla and spices. Ends sweet, but without much pumpkin. Had on tap at the beach cafe in Kirkland, WA.

Bottle - Pours dark with a small creamy head. Aromas of pumpkin, dough, and some spice like a pumpkin pie, but with a prominence of pumpkin. The taste starts nice with the aromas continuing, but quickly gets muddled. The finish as an aspirin note.

From Brewcraft. Fizzy watery cola black. Small beige head, very spotty lacing. Smells like cinnamon, brown sugar, pumpkin, nutmeg, chocolate, a little minty/herbal. Tastes quite bitter in an herbal/medicinal way, like grass jelly. Not much pumpkin/spice in the taste as the aroma would lead you to believe. Body is thin, bitter, ends on an acidic note. Really nice interesting aroma but taste and palate are a letdown - a bit like slightly spicy watery coke.

Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Opaque black pour with thin white head. Aroma is pumpkin pie + porter...cinnamon and nutmeg plus roasted flavors. Taste is similar - but more generic porter with cinnamon and nutmeg. Body is normal light porter. Finish is pumpkin pie like - but more like artificial pumpkin pie flavor. Interesting but not a repeat.

On tap at Three Kings. It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasty dark malts, pumpkin and spices. The taste was roasty, with pumpkin and spices. Nice.
