Redhook Pilsner is brewed in a traditional Czech style and is the first pilsner Redhook Ale Brewery has ever released. Red Hook Pilsner offers a very soft palate and malt flavors that are offset by a medium dose of distinct Czech hops to bring out its authentic flavors. The refreshing beer finishes with a clean, bright, thirst-quenching quality. Red Hook Pilsner pairs nicely with barbecued chicken, bratwurst, spicy food, fresh fish, and green salad. 12 oz bottle into footed pilsner glass. Aroma is bland, full of cereal grain--not much different than a macro lager, really. Itís a little sweet-smelling. Pours a deep clear gold with a medium head which dissipates in a minute, leaving a scrim of foam and decent lace. Taste is sweet and finishes with a slight bitter hop bite, which was unexpected and very much welcome. It made the beer more interesting than what I was expecting. Mouthfeel is creamy. Carbonation is medium-high. Medium bodied. Smooth and very drinkable. A perfect lawnmower beer that you donít need to think too much about. Just tip a few back and leave your brain back in the alley where it belongs, Beaver. Listen to your father, now. --Love Ward

Pour is clear yellow with a fluffy fast fading white head...smell is grainy, cereal, and sweet...taste is much the same...nothing to really report here...not offensive unless cereal sweet pilseners offend...

Bottled on 04.05.10.. Pours a clear gold with minimal head. Aroma is bready grain, grassy, lightly peppery. Lightly metallic. Fruity taste at first, clean grain, fruity hops. A bit grassy. Pretty decent little pils actually. Light, crisp and fizzy.

Sampled on 5/23/2010. This Bohemian Pilsner pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with decent lacing. The aroma is cereal and grain with some floral hops. A medium to light bodied Bohemian Pilsner. The malts are grainy and cereal, slightly sweet. The hops are floral. Nice carbonation. Drinkable, but it needs to be some more malt and a little more spiciness. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. The aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Fresh Bottle. Pours a clear, medium golden hue with a centered, concentrated stream of effervescing bubbles. A small, pure white layer of smooth froth sits at the head, settling quickly to a thin film. Soapy lacing mostly rejoins the body, though a few elongated spots do remain behind. The aroma is of relatively sweet cereal grain malts, corn, sugary bread dough, and mild floral hops. Flavors follow suit, falling well on the sweet side of balanced for the style, and showing far too much sweet corn sugars. Cereal grain and gummy dough again dominant a weak, slightly peppery, floral hop profile. The palate also sports the ill effects of too much sugar, showing sticky, cloying tendencies that are not at all what Iím looking for in a pils. Reminds me alot of stateside Pilsner Urquell, which is far too sweet.
