2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
Disappointing brew that doesn’t live up to its labeling; the softness and maltiness that ought be present just aren’t, but the bracing West Coast hops certainly are (Bealeton)

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear Yellow, Light and Quickly Dissipating Head. Mellow and nothing to taste. Besides light sweet malty aftertaste there is nothing else going on. Hops? What hops? No bitterness at all... Easy to drink and enjoy on a hot day but is nothing special and forgettable.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Light and crisp and kind of an pear juice quality going on. Might be OK with food, but no more so than ice water. Meh.

Not too bad. Nice hay like aroma, but very weak. Taste is smooth, but there is a bit of an earthy aftertaste.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Gold in color with minimal head. Slight funky farm aroma. Not getting anything else. Flavor is just this side of sweet. It’s well balanced and refreshing, just not a lot of flavor overall. Clean finish.

Coming off of a recent pilsner kick in San Fran (classic Bitburger and locals Trumer and Sudwerk), I’ve got a new appreciation for the style whose deservedly good name pale lager besmirched. Color is light copper-orange; much darker than expected. Head is not spectacular; a yellowish-white that settles down to a foam layer pretty quickly (insert improper glassware caveat). Aroma is more like blonde ale than pilsner. I’m missing the hoppiness and lager cleanness that I want, and getting more fruitiness and lemon zest than I want. That echoes through to the palate and flavor. I get mostly malt, and I’m missing that noble hop spiciness I love in pilsners. Some pool water, as well. Finish does have some bitterness, but overall not enough hop flavor and aroma for me.
