COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

Sunrye poured a very light yellow color and finished pouring with a very thin barely yellow head. The beer itself is pure yellow but very transparent; with bubbles pretty consistently racing to the top to merge with the thin head. Looks refreshing, to say the least. The aroma during the pour (noticable from a good 2 feet away from my nose) was spicy, sort of a Euro hop scent. The aroma closer to the pint glass was just really delicious pure and clean malts, definitely some hay as the previous reviewer noted. Moderate to light mouthfeel; solid but not overfilling. This is a straight forward beer flavor: good malty backbone with an underlying honey sweetness; crisp with a growing sweet side as it warms. Unimpressive but decent on a hot summer day.

Bottle. Big malt base in the aroma, grains with honey, hay, perhaps a touch of wheat or rye. Golden pour with a fizzy beige head. Light, crispy body with a clear focus on the honey malt, dries out a touch by the end, where it finishes with a nice little bit of bread. Unremarkable but not bad - has some quenching character and sunniness.

I like the smooth aged malt flavor. I find that same flavor in Templeton Rye whiskey. This could be the next emerging beer trend. Those people that rated this thinking “Summer Wheat” should try it again with out an expectation, it is a really great beer.

Bottle. Slightly hazzy golden pour with a white head. Aroma is faint and grainy. Nice mild fruity flavors follow up the rye, rather pleasant. Not bad.

Pours a nice clear golden color with a decent white head. Aroma is a bit weak, fairly malty and not at all complex. Flavor is malty and wheaty, with just a touch of hoppy bitterness, rather thin and not too pleasing. Texture is smooth and a little watery. Hop flavor dominates the aftertaste.

Pours cloudy gold with a white head that fizzled away quickly. Grassy, grainy aroma with a little lemon. Smells like a summer brew. Light flavor with lemon, grass, and hops. Not a bad taste but is similar to Fraoch Heather Ale and I didn’t like that either. Very light palate and would probably be refreshing for people who like this style
