COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Introducing Redhook Sunrye, a light, refreshing summer beer brewed with six barley malts, including a touch of organic rye. The opalescent golden color of Sunrye is a result of its unfiltered nature. Light and crisp, this brew was made for slaking summer thirsts.

12 oz Bottle. Had a metalic aroma to this beer. Gold body with white head. Flavor was mainly like common swill from miller, bitter, touch of lemon and some burnt grains. Leaves a slight burnt metal aftertaste.

So I expected this to be a little more astringent due to the Rye but it tasted more like the other summer ales on the market. I liked it better but it was not what I expected...very light with a wheat dominance...no hops and a flat finish. Drinkable but nothing I will crave for.

Pours pale yellow with small white head, fairly bubbly. Nose is faint floral hops mixed with a pleasing graininess, rye is present. The flavor is rather grainy, raw malts with some complexity, and a rather interesting finishing bitterness. Pretty good for a blonde.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2007 Bit watery but the lemon and rhy combo is refreshing and flavorful. I enjoyed but not eager to dringk again. Interesting. Good as a thirst qwenching session brew.

Bottle: Pours to a clear, pale yellow colored body with a tiny, almost nonexistent white head that quickly fades. The aroma is sweat, bread, bread dough, hints of earthy/floral hops, and a touch of hay. The taste is mildly bitter earthy/grassy/floral hops, pale grains, hints of spicy rye, sweet grass, and the smallest hints of dried grapefruit rind in the background. Light bodied, medium-lively caronated.

Bottled. Aroma was mild and of spicy, bready malts and some (possibly German) hops. Taste was clean and also lightly spicy, but perhaps a bit weak. I felt that this flavor finished better than it started. Color was orange-golden with a moderately lasting white head. I thought that it was overly effervescent/ carbonated. Reasonably good, but it certainly isn’t going to take any chances.

Pours clear. Nice rye aroma. Nice, though mild, rye flavor. Light, crisp, refreshing. What a summer beer should be. It does the job it was designed for quite well.

Bottle: Pours a clear golden color with a white head that disapates quickly. Aroma was faint of malts and grassiness. Taste is smooth of sweet maltiness, a little yeast, a little lemon, and a little rye. Not bad flavor, but very mild overall.
