12oz bottle shared courtesy of Josh. Poured a medium and clear amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of citrus (oranges), nutty, dark fruits, and caramel. Tastes started out tinny then caramel, dark fruits, oranges, and citrus. Light alcohol in the finish, but overall well hidden.

Trade with New Hampshire, one of the non-breakingbottles sent to NYC. 2007 edition. Pours medium amber with a bit of foam and minimal head. Good malty barley aroma, though sweet. Medium mouthfeel, nice barleywine not at peak and not young either. Quite drinkable. Bit sugary sweet aftertaste.

2009 vintage from Peace Street Market? Pours a hazy copper color with a very thin head. Aroma of toffee, citrus, brown sugar, nutty notes. The taste is toffee, brown sugar, citrus and spicy hops. Medium bodied. Decent.

Bottle marked 09/08/09 thanks to cavie. Pours with a golden body and a fading white head. Aroma is hoppy with honey and caramel. Taste is hoppy with pine, orange and caramel. Definitely an American style barleywine that reminds me a bit of Old Guardian. Light bubbles and syrupy.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours copper with ruby edges and 2f ow head and good lacing. Nose is resiny hops, earthy, floral, fruity, with c malt. Tastes very c malty, somewhat cloying, with notes of fruit, bs, hops, berry, and slight funk. Finishes mediocre. Starts OK though.

Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a frothy, spotty-lacing off-white head. Rich aroma of sweet caramely malt and lots of fresh resiny grapefruity hops with a touch of light fruity esters. Starts with good fullness and chewy caramel sweetness well-balanced with a juicy citrus hop presence and a touch of earthy bitterness and a hint of soapiness toward the finish. Starts out well, but gets kinda flabby, overly bitter and unbalanced in the end.

A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris O’s Kook Fest tasting.
Fairly clean amber with a very good off white head. Lots of fruity malt and plenty of caramel too. Good balancing citric hops and a decent amount of bitterness. Sweetist finish that dries nicely as it goes. Reasonably straight forward but generally a really good, suprisingly mellow barley wine that is not the usual over the top crazy fest that I have come to expect from most American takes on this style. Enjoyed it.

2007 bottle. Poured near-clear, healthy medium orange with a short-ish cap of beige head. The aroma picked up a huge dose of reddish fruits with a sweet overall impression.. some herbal character and touches of earth.. warm, sweet, and inviting. The flavor was also centered around dark fruit, but picked up brown sugar, aged caramel, and a touch of molasses.. finished with more bitterness in the form of pine and earth.. tasty stuff. Medium-plus bodied and well-balanced on the palate.. hoppy and warm at the end. Solid brew all-around.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Sweet malt aroma with some earthiness and very light hops. Sweet malt flavor with earth and light citrus hops. Medium bodied. Sweet malt lingers with some light mustiness and hops backing. Well balanced.

Bottle at the release of Flaming Fury. Pours a clear orange with a thin white head. Sweet caramel on the nose, but not a lot of depth. Bitter finish with a good amount of grapefruit bitterness.
