12oz. bottle: This one pours a ruby tinged darker amber color. There was very little head, and it dropped off quickly. It has a nice nose to it. I get some citrusy hops, with a faint whiff of pineapple. The taste is quite good. A nice full caramel malt body, but not too sweet. There is a nice bitterness sitting on top of it. This drinks real easy. I hope this becomes a regular addition to their lineup.

This bottled brew from rbsg #18 poured a large sized head foamy with a frothy top of fine to large sized bubbles that left behind a transparent copper brown colored body. The mild aroma was hoppy floral malty and vinous. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The nice flavor contained notes like a typical barley wine with banana hops and malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

Tap at Amesbury Ale House. Pours deep amber into a shaker. Off-white head recedes to hug rim. Orange citrus aromas. Well balanced with fruity citrus and dark caramel. Lasting toffee and hop finish. ABV very well hidden.

Tasting at Hall’s. Nice hop scent, which was surprising to me. Has a strong hop presence for a barley wine. Clouded brownish pour. Upfront taste is a malty sweet with a strong hop lingering finish. Very nice and quite flavorful.

Really good beer. It has been cellared for 28 months and aroma is still pungent and hoppy. Taste is complex and smooth starts hoppy fruit and ends with rich Carmel.

(02/20 Toronado Barleywine Festival) On draft. Small head as they filled up the glass pretty close to the brim. Ruby read color. Not much of an aroma. Cherry-like character in flavor. Hops come out more in the aftaste and palate.

Sampled on 4/2/2010. This barleywine pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, orange, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Barleywine. The malts are fruity, sweet, with a touch of orange and orange peel. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice carbonation. Decent balance. Some additional bottle aging will improve this beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
