2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Share this bottle. clean copper pour with long lasting head, sweet, syrupy, spicy. Too complex for my taste. I probably just donít like this malty of a beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cellared, competition entry/12oz. bottle, poured to snifters showing a hazed, orangey amber color, with some light but fleeting, off white foam, and spots of lacing. The nose was ripe fruit, subtle spice, and caramel/candy sweetness. Light to medium bodied, with present, but soft carbonation. Alcohol potency had mellowed quite a bit, as much of the Tripel nature had waned, but the brew as a whole was still kind of tasty.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The body has a beautiful light orange amber color with very good clarity. A small creamy off whit head forms on top but quickly fades out completely and makes for no lacing at all. The aroma has a heavy phenolic presence plastic band aid, clove, fruity esters and a solvent like alcohol. There is a harsh warming alcohol up front and wrapped around estery/fruity yeast notes with descent leafy hop bitterness in the background. Overall it is fairly sweet with a little more of the hop bitterness coming out in the finish. The texture is very smooth with a nearly flat carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz. bomber: This one pours a cloudy amber color. There was a very small off-white head that didnít linger at all. About no lacing. Nice, but subdued nose. Some banana, clove, vanilla,, lemon, other spices, faint wheat. The taste is good, but not as pleasing as other tripels. A bit of vanilla on top of everything else. Wheat, clove, some banana, other spices to the taste. Itís good, but the vanilla is a bit too much and distracts from the beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
An okay tripel, but not in the same league as its Belgian counterparts. A healthy amount of spices, but nothing spectacular. Dark fruit and clove.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle 1/9/11 (Orlando)-Pours a hazy orangish amber with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, clove, cinnamon, and belgian. Taste of belgian, alcohol, vanilla, and malt. This full bodied brew was not bad. Have to say it held up pretty well. Nice job.

2.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
11/21/2009 - I fell for the limited release line again, and this time I got burned. The Red Hook Tripel pours silently and produces little to no head. Itís clear, with a nice fox orange color, and a wreathe of carbonation in 5 or 6 discrete geysers. The aroma is wheaty and sweet, proffering smells of orange, pineapple and bubblegum, with a general sense of thick fruit syrups. Itís enticing, but the flavor is a betrayal. The palate is flat, soapy, reeks of chemicals and perfume, and becomes progressively more bitter in the mouth as it lingers. The kicker is the metallic aftertaste that sits on the tongue, refusing to budge even for a gulp of water. Itís a pity that the aroma was so inviting, because the flavor is so disappointing. One of the few beers Iíve had to eject down the drain, and that always makes for a sad day.

Hearty syrup enriched body. Sharp yeast notes with tropical fruit character. Spice and belgian candy with funked old moss.
