16oz draft from Old Chicago poured into a shaker. Pours a clear dark red with minimal head. Aroma of caramel malt and light pine hops. Taste of pine and floral hops with a nice caramel finish. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, not bad. I could easily drink this again.

Clear dark amber, with a nice but small foamy head that left ok lacing. Aroma was confusing for an English Strong, or a winter ale for that matter. I got a lot of citrus rind, nutmeg, toasted biscuit, burnt toffee, and a great big dose of herbal hops. In the flavor the hoppiness was a little restrained, leaving plenty of room for some biscuity toffee malts to come through, with some citrus rind, a little nutmeg, and some soft bitterness from herbal hops at the finish. Not shabby, but nothing Iíd buy again.

Your typical malty semi-sweet, semi-bitter winter warmer. Medium everything. Not bad.

This beer had a lot of upfront maltiness / caramel in the aroma and taste and finished with a strong. lingering hop presence. This is a good cold weather beer.

Bottled Sept 23. Toasted malt scent yet distinctly hoppy. Excellent deep copper pour...looks delicious. Sweet flavor with a long bitter finish. Well carbonated, perhaps a little chalky on the palate. Solid beer to chase dinner with.

Definitely Strong, and also very Hoppy. Not at all what I was expecting, but I think I like it.

Pours a clear reddish-brown-mahogany with minimal head. Bottle was bottled in late October. Definitely a malty smell/taste to it, very easy to drink, some caramel, some nuttiness in it. Not too bad, but nothing crazy. Pretty much what I expected.

Red Hook Winterhook is a super clear, dark amber beer with a soft, waxy, light khaki head that has outstanding retention. There is some lightly sweet malt in the nose, with a hint of medicine and wood resin. Itís medium-light bodied with a slightly gritty finish. It doesnít taste too sweet, but there is plenty of malt and a little medicinal bitterness. Itís very warming. It tastes stronger than it is.
