3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 oldpainless (34) - fort mill, South Carolina, USA - JAN 25, 2008
I dint know what to expect from this one..I liked the bottle label so I got a 12.
It starts rather hoppy & does mellow quickly. To me it almost crosses over to IPA territory. So it may be a good starter for one looking to try something a bit more hoppy but, not so much so that it scares one away from moving foward to try other " hoppy" beers.
All in All..I would buy it again & found it to be okay.

Nice clean tasting winter lager with a hoppy taste at the begining that changes to a smooth taste at the end.

12oz Bottle. Nose heavy on the grains, rough breads, and toast. Very malt based. Pours in clear copper, with a rocky soap of off-white moving down the glass fast. Flavor is a moderately sweet candied sugar, with some afterglow of orange rind, agave nectar, and caramel. Plenty of crystal malt here. Some Munich-like chewiness brings up the background. Hops lay low and develop bamboo affinity amongst the herbal qualities. Light esters and alcohols surprise. Clean, drinkable, with moderate flavor. Nothing to get all excited about.

Bottle. Pours a very bubbly, slightly hazy orange-amber with an average size lasting off-white head -- lookin’ good. Aroma of lightly toasted malt, fruit and a decent amount of hops. Flavour of toasted malt, fruit, hops along with some nuts and light spices -- it could use a bit more flavour. Mild bitter finish. Average bodied. Better then I expected it to be, not bad at all actually.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 mrant (330) - New York, USA - JAN 16, 2008
Smells pleasant and sweet, mild roasted malt scent. Pours a clear copper color with a big white head. Taste is mild but tasty malts with nice light bitter/sweet hops flavor. Nice, but quite so dark/malty as I was expecting from a winter ale.

Draft at Crocodile Lounge. Amber brown pour with minimal head. Aroma of english pale malt, and very similar to other big brewer winter ales. The flavor is the same.

Light tan colour .. some decant head but dies down quite a bit .. some honey notes but muddled ... some flavours but too befuddling to pull out anything real, if that makes any sense.. an average beer but for an english strong winter beer, thin and watery but is easy drinking... McLovin ..
