Slight malt aroma with a hint of caramel. Nice smooth body with a minimal amount of spice. An easy drinking brew.

DOdubble (92) - UVA, Virginia, USA - DEC 7, 2002
This beer is tasty and delicious, but i wish it was stronger since its supposed to be a "robust winter ale." It does go down nice and smooth though.

dankfor20 (193) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - DEC 5, 2002
A clean dry roasty palate i’ll agree. I’m not a fan of spicy winter brews so i liked this one

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20
aracauna (3094) - Georgia, USA - DEC 3, 2002
Dark mahogany brown with an eohemeral head. Cherry and lemon on the nose. The flavor is wood, caramel, fruitiness and brown sugar but a bit thin and watery. They were going for warm and malty I think, but fall short in the delivery.

   AROMA 4/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 10/20
JMerritt (1813) - Macomb, Illinois, USA - DEC 2, 2002
Spicy flavor, moderately bitter immediate aftertaste. Hardly a ’robust winter ale.’

baobubba (455) - Starkville, Mississippi, USA - NOV 29, 2002
Copper color, little head. Malty/fruity aroma - dried apples, pears, and caramel. Sweet flavor, slight bitter finish, no aftertaste. An unoffensive, uncomplicated winter ale. Pretty much gutless.

PBOYNY (316) - Westchester, New York, USA - NOV 27, 2002
decent enough ale, somewhat boring, but about as good as it gets from these sag-asses

jedimasternick (96) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 25, 2002
A much better winter than others including Sam Adams with a nice slight spiciness.
