UPDATED: DEC 10, 2005 (12/10/05, 12oz bottle, bottled on 11/21/05, ABV = 6%) Small beige head topping a clear nut-brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, spruce, some pistachio, faint anise, nutmeg -- strange combination. Taste is medium sweet, pine, some caramel, light vegetal. Light-medium body. Definitely seems different from the last time I tried it, and not for the better. (5/3/6/3/11)

(12/6/03, 12oz bottle): Clear garnet body with small beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, spiced, grapefruit, light floral. Taste is medium sweet, spiced, grapefruit/floral. Medium body. (6/4/7/4/14)

Sparkling clear, burnt orange/ruby ale. Cheap aftershave and vineous notes within the nose and flavor along with toffee and leathery, citrusy and evergreen hops. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Short, thin, lightly bitter finish.

Nutty, malty aroma. Nice, brown, appropriately winterish color. Surprisingly thin, but a nice malt flavor, well balanced by hop. Piny, citrusy flavor does not conceal the malt. Arguably dry. Perhaps a light coffee touch in the finish; very light. Nice, and not just for winter.
