Portland Holiday Ale Festival 2004. Malty aroma, brown sugar, vanilla. Light chocolate. Flavour of sweet malt, caramel, spicy hops and a touch of vanilla. Light bitter finish.

Just kind of an average beer. It is pretty malty with some caramel but there is a nice bit of hops.

Bottle. Very strong pine/cedar resin aroma - hard to detect anything else. Clear medium amber color with small head. Moderate malt and strong hops flavor with really only a hint of the pine - from the aroma, I was afraid it would taste like Pinesol. Very interesting how it has such a strong pine aroma but it doesn’t come out much in the flavor.

Some light wood, nutmeg, scotch, cream... all around a tasty brew but not very complex... light-to-medium body, a little fizzy at times and creamy as others. Some leafy hops show up near the end. Decent enough. Smells like artificial strawberry flavoring sometimes.

Roasted malt and silky caramel…Sweet fruit and cinnamon…More of an autumn beer…

Dark copper pour, with minimal head. Aroma of caramal malt, brown sugar, some vegetals, and even brine. The taste was caramel malty but had funky vegetal off notes that I’m hoping were an aberration. I had a hard time finishing this one.

Bottle from random gas station in Maine. Brown body, creamy beige head. Green hoppy aroma was unexpected, and only becomes more prominent as the glass goes on. Touch of smokey log cabin in the background. Flavour is a bit odd. Very strong celery characteristics, Mild bitterness over sweet malt hiding below. Vaguely herbal/licorice undertones. Average palate. Bizarrely interesting. Enjoyable but puzling.

12oz bottle. Clear red color with a brown hue, thin khaki head. Some lace. Interesting, intriguing aroma... Sort of a sweet taste. Like a red twizzler. Sort of fruity hops, like fruit punch. Interesting sweetness, kind of sugary. Despite the more pronounced carbonation, this is drinkable because the taste is so interesting. A winter ale that’s more on the candy side. My mom had a taste, she suggested orange... I can see that

Pours dark red with off white head, aroma is some caramel, nuts, roasted malt, touch of vanilla. Taste up front is some sweet caramel, biscuit, vanilla, leading into some nutty flavors and finishing a bit dry and bitter with the roasted malt. Pretty good!

Bottlede on 10/29/08 and drank on 11/14/08. Pours with a huge, fluffy, off-white head and a dark hazlenut body. Some good lacing. Some spicey piney hops and a bit of toasted malt and orange peel in the aroma. Taste is hoppy with some orange and a bit watery compared to the aroma. Some toasted malt and toffee. Creamyish mouthfeel, and light carbonation.
