Some light wood, nutmeg, scotch, cream... all around a tasty brew but not very complex... light-to-medium body, a little fizzy at times and creamy as others. Some leafy hops show up near the end. Decent enough. Smells like artificial strawberry flavoring sometimes.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark copper pour, with minimal head. Aroma of caramal malt, brown sugar, some vegetals, and even brine. The taste was caramel malty but had funky vegetal off notes that Iím hoping were an aberration. I had a hard time finishing this one.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from random gas station in Maine. Brown body, creamy beige head. Green hoppy aroma was unexpected, and only becomes more prominent as the glass goes on. Touch of smokey log cabin in the background. Flavour is a bit odd. Very strong celery characteristics, Mild bitterness over sweet malt hiding below. Vaguely herbal/licorice undertones. Average palate. Bizarrely interesting. Enjoyable but puzling.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep copper with an eggshell colored head. Very fresh hoppy aroma, like a good IPA. Body starts with a nice hoppy kick and trails off into a more caramel malty side. Good crisp bittersweet finish. A very nice hoppy amber. I wouldn't really consider it an English Strong Ale.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
2002 bottle: I wasnít expecting too much from this one and I was not let down. It definitely needs to warm a little for any flavor to come through. Pours a dark amber color with minimal head and lace. Aroma is lightly matly and spicy. Flavor is slightly nutty with a little butterscotch or caramel but overall it is thin. Not as robust as I like my winter ales.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Very strong pine/cedar resin aroma - hard to detect anything else. Clear medium amber color with small head. Moderate malt and strong hops flavor with really only a hint of the pine - from the aroma, I was afraid it would taste like Pinesol. Very interesting how it has such a strong pine aroma but it doesnít come out much in the flavor.
