3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. The pour was a clear copper brown with a huge (3-4 finger) off white rocky head that had great retention, finally reducing to a large foamy cap and had some fair spotty lacing.
The aroma was of toasted caramel malts, spruce hops and a doughy yeast with notes of citrus (orange), toffee and dark fruit (plums and raisins).
The taste was moderately sweet and had a nice malty feel with hints of toffee and citrus at first and then became mildly hoppy with a note of dark fruit and a slight bitter finish. The flavor lasted only a short while with the fruity hoppy taste fading relatively quick.
Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and mildly dry in texture with a soft carbonation.
Overall a decent Winter Warmer that was very drinkable, although it is nothing over the top...

2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle looks like a chode. Taste is relatively bland but what it lacks in taste it makes up for in alcohol content.

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottled 20SEP11 (because winter starts in September now?)
A: Copper with a finger of off-white foam which falls quickly to a sheet of the same. near cobweb lace. Excellent clarity.
S: Caramel malts with hints of metal.
T: Herbal, with a near lavender flavor. Nasty.
M: Thin with moderate carb.
O: Been drinking some shit beer tonight, getting tired of it.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Moderately malty character with a bit of roasted malt and hops (Burnt pine?). Reminds me a little of an Amber Ale, with just a tad more hop presence than is typical for the style (You wonít confuse this for an IPA, though). Relative to other winter warmers, a little less sweet and a little more bitter, but fairly balanced. Nothing special, but nothing that will turn you against the winter mix pack from which it comes. Old fashioned bottle design. I donít know if one would call this a stubby, but its definitely not a long neck.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from the grocery store. Pours a clear mahogany color with a medium beige head. The aroma is light spices, some caramel and toasted malts. Smooth, actually quite hoppy, some pine, toasted malts, nutty, citrus, some caramel. Quite nice really. And a good price. Really smooth and fairly light. Well made.

We did a blind taste test between this and 4 other Winter Seasonals to objectively determine which one was best. They beers were: Deschutes Jubelale, Anderson Valley Boont Winter Solstice, Big Sky Powder Hound, Alaskan Winter Ale, and Redhook Winterhook. Check it out:

Dark brown with a very strong roast flavor. Just bitter enough and pretty enjoyable.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark brown with a light brown head. Roast grain aroma with just a touch of evergreen. Flavor is similar to aroma. Dry, thin and nothing particularly festive about it. Seems to be more of an American brown ale.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft. Dark ruby red with a thick off-white head that settles to a film with significant lacing. Aroma is strong with malt and a touch of hops. Sweet taste from the malt. Basically an average beer. Not amazing but not awful either.

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2013 Pours pretty dark, nice frothy head that lasts forever. Slightly fruity, slightly spicy. Dry. Nothing fantastic, nothing terrible.
