COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook’s twist on the Belgian style is the addition of fresh ginger, which adds a refreshing snappiness to this lighter-bodied wheat beer. Redhook Wit is perfect for warm summer months of outdoor BBQ-ing, sitting by the pool, or just taking a break by hanging inside enjoying the AC and watching old re-runs of Gilligan’s Island.

"Made with ginger but still digs Mary Ann."

Formerly ’Redhook Wit’

Bottle - pours pale straw yellow with a highly effervescent white head that descends quickly into a film then lingers. Aroma is pretty faint...wheat, some spice, hint of banana / orange. Flavor is even fainter than the aroma...but what is there is actually quite pleasant, but unlike most witbiers I’ve had in the past - very fruity with lemon and orange, hint of banana, slight bit of yeast, touch of spice, splash of corn. Palate is highly carbonated, but quite easy drinking. I’m really torn on this one...part of me wants to see the flavors come out more, but the other part of me appreciates this for what it is - a very light wit that is highly sessionable. Well, would I have one again - certainly...so it can’t be all that bad!

Bottle. Pours clear yellow with a small, fizzy, white head. Disappears rather fast. Aroma has apples, light wheat, a bit skunky, coriander. High, prickly carbonation, dryish and light mouthfeel. Flavour is mild, some sweet wheat, light grainy, pineapple, apples. Boring.

From bottle at a tasting. Cloudy appearance with wheat in the nose. Light bodied; the ginger is impactful, but not overbearing. Nice spin on a Witbier. Love the tagline.

Poured with little to no head. Light color, with a hint (almost none) of ginger. Ok beer.

weihenweizen (1732) - Charleston Area, West Virginia, USA - OCT 29, 2012
Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a weizen. Pours cloudy light orange with very small white head. Little lacing, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and wheat aroma. Taste is grainy wheat, some tart citrus, and crisp hop finish. Below average for the style.

Cloudy lemon gold with a small, slightly off-white head. Scent is lemon/orange....wheat, ginger. Taste is malty, wheat, grain, a little spiciness...especially in aftertaste. Pretty good stuff.....refreshing.
