COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Redhook’s twist on the Belgian style is the addition of fresh ginger, which adds a refreshing snappiness to this lighter-bodied wheat beer. Redhook Wit is perfect for warm summer months of outdoor BBQ-ing, sitting by the pool, or just taking a break by hanging inside enjoying the AC and watching old re-runs of Gilligan’s Island.

"Made with ginger but still digs Mary Ann."

Bottle:   Hazy straw, thin white head, sudsy, minimal lacing.   Subtle spicy nose, pale ginger and corriander.   Smells pretty good.   Spritzy ginger flavors up front.   Soft, but yet dominates the corriander I got on the nose.   Moderate body and mouthfeel, albeit its a little spritzy/bubbley.   Not strong enough for my tastes, but I can see where this would appeal to a large majority of Redhook drinkers.   Not the greatest Wit, but respectable.

Bottle 355 ml
Aroma: fairly aromatic, dusty, malty with light yet noticeable hop notes. Slight citrus hints behind.
Appearance: frisky bright amber , fresh copper with mid haze. Initial large top but with short live. 2+
Body , Flavour , Palate and Final Notes: medium lighter bodied. quiet sweet sugary malty , touch of mango and peach , slight bitterness on walls. Quiet fruity. Bit empty on character once you passed that. Fine.

Westmeister (938) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JUL 17, 2011
Draft. Pours a cloudy yellow with a thinnish white head. Smells of doughy yeast, light citrus and a hint of clove, however subdue. Taste is light, crisp and refreshing with some lemon zest and subtle spice (maybe ginger). Nothing memorable. Decent summer brew, but nothing special.

Silphium (2972) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JUL 17, 2011
Bottle. Cloudy banana yellow-brown body, thin off-white head. Tangy nose with coriander and orange peel. Coriander-dominated body with tangy wheat; the spice notes are cloying.

KAggie97 (3530) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - JUL 16, 2011
Bottle. Pours a thin, fizzy amber with a nose of light bread, light ginger, and a touch of clove. Flavor is more like a sweet pilsner, with a grassy sugarness that gives no hint of ’nana, clove, or bubblegum. Watery but tingly on the tongue. Avoid.

As a graphic designer by day, I dig the bottle and label for the series...note the small details. That said, the color is a cloudy gold, aroma is very light. Light in taste and body, a bit flat. Mediocre to good.

daknole (7205) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUL 10, 2011
Pale and cloudy yellow pour. Soapy, white head. Aroma hits with tons of ginger, ivory soap, and light caramel. Flavor is a bit tart up front, ginger hits pretty hard, and some hops on the finish. Unique but not amazing.

obguthr (3225) - Poquoson, Virginia, USA - JUL 10, 2011
Strongly vegetal nose, with coriander and salami notes. MIlky yellow, thin head. Coriander and black pepper flavor, still with a very meaty component. Not a great wit, but probably a good beer to have with a deli sub. Weird, but enjoyable.

Braudog (5028) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - JUL 10, 2011
Bottle. Muddy yellow color with barely any head whatsoever. Quite easy to drink, with any ginger addition exceptionally subtle. Could be a great thirst quencher on a hot summer day. (#4163, 7/10/2011)
