Has all the classic currant and dark chocolate that you’d expect from such a beer. Clean and well lagered, it has a shade more caramel and a slightly lower carbonation than I’d like but it is a moreishly dangerous drinker and a great way to end a lovely but cool spring day (listening to The Sun Came Out). Dark fruits, raisins, burned toasted malty aroma. Burned malts, dark chocolate, raisins, dark fruits, salty, intense bitterness in the middle, smooth in the end. Roasted coffee/espresso. A bit edgy. Nice. nate2g (1073), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Draught at Redoak Brewpub, Sydney. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small, lingering beige head. I’m letting this one sit as it’s a tad too cold. Once warmed up I’m getting notes of dried fruit - plums and blackcurrant, chocolate (cocoa), and notes of toffee. The flavour is dried fruit, cocoa, sticky toffee and nuts. Smooth mouthfeel and the alcohol is hidden well. Smooth and bitter finish and warms nicely. A really enjoyable beer. bluevegie (2188), Perth, Australia

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 19, 2009 I had a lovely couple of sessions at the Red Oak in Sydney. Unfortunately I lost my notes but I can report that all the beers I tried were perfect examples of their respective style. The aroma, flavour, mouthfeel, malt and hoppyness is exactly what you would imagine from reading standard guidelines. Very well crafted and very tasty, but a bit to predictable to be outstanding. The Baltic Porter was the best I tried and possibly the best baltic I’ve had. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 25, 2008 Updated: Aug 26, 2008Bottle (250ml) at the Redoak. Vintage 06. Let this sit for a good hour before tasting. Poured deep/dark ruby brown with a small, frothy, tanned head which was mostly lasting. Aroma amazingly complex (as expected), extremely malty with burnt, sweet/sticky toffee, strong woody/port notes, strong notes caramelized dark fruits, figs and sticky notes of alcohol. Flavor was an explosion on the taste buds with strong notes of caramelized dark bitter/sweet fruits (dates, prunes, raisins, figs), superb woody/port notes, light notes of chocolate and a smooth, warming vanilla finish. Full bodied with very soft carbonation, a syrupy texture and an everlasting, warming/port-like finish. Unbelievablely well balanced. beerledgend (919), Meadowbank Auckland, New Zealand
