In bottle at Craigs. Pours a dark golden colour with a fair beige head. Aroma of passion fruit, pineapple, caramel and yeast. Similar flavours with some sour lemon and a fair degree of bitterness. Very heavy carbonation and moderate CO2 prickle. Reminds me of Passiona with a vinous grapefruit and sauvignon blanc character also. Really interesting. This is definitely growing on me.

330ml bottle. Pours an unpleasant murky brown, with a large off-white head, which does last well, but does not leave much lace. There is something more than a little wrong with the way this beer smells. It certainly smells nothing like any bitter I have ever had. There are some slightly off floral notes, a bit of caramel malt and an odd, slightly sickly sweet fruity aroma. It is very estery to taste, with a heap of artificial, syrupy lime flavour up front. A rather watery body lacks any real malt at all, with the same syrupy lime persisting right through to the finish, where it is joined, bizarrely, by a mild lemonade flavour. This truly is a rotten and horrid beer. Whilst not as catastrophically abhorrent as Redoak’s Hefeweizen, it has certainly cemented my opinion of Redoak as Australia’s most overrated brewer. As for this winning the title of "world’s best bitter", I can only assume that this was a competition judged by people who had never tasted bitter before. Or possibly by people who had never tasted beer before. Or possibly by monkeys. It’s hard to tell. Either way, this is a beer that should be avoided by anybody with either tastebuds or self-respect.
