mullet (763), Melbourne, Australia Oct 27, 2007 The cork was in terrible shape. It was missing significant chunks and came apart on opening. Lovely looking beer though, vivid clear pink with a decent thin head. Loads of lovely fresh raspberry aroma with a significant seed character and a touch of volatile acid. Not much else is evident - it’s really hard to get a feel for the base beer at all. Very dry, with light raspberry flavour and subtle acid. Nice stuff - clean, light and dry, but there’s just not a great deal going on. And I’m still not convinced this is different to the Framboise Froment.
highlandlad (1189), Sydney, Australia Jun 11, 2008 As Lach says, this doesn’t seem a million miles removed from the Framboise Froment and certainly not by enough to justify the difference in price. It’s a clean, decent sipper but there’s not enough complexity here to rank it any higher. Cloudy pink with an excitable head. Soft raspberry aroma - tart but restrained. Lean, champagne-like body. Fruit acids. Dry finish. (Bottle courtesy of Linc at Sully’s 2007 RB Xmas gathering. Thanks fellas.) TimE (1023), Tokyo, Japan Dec 16, 2007 Clear, bright pink color. The nose to me back to picking freshing raspberries out of my grandparent’s garden and soaking them in water over the sink, this time though there was a touch of caramel in there. Superb. Light, acidic raspberry mouth that is very enjoyable. This is heading towards lambic territory, but then pulls back on sourness. Mouth feel is at times somewhat creamy.
Chalky, raspberry finish. Very enjoyable.
