3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 hawthorne00 (1855) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUN 28, 2011
Tap, a bit too cold at RedOak. Orangeish amber, small light beige head. Very hoppy nose - floral, with pine and spice, darkish toffee - smells fabulous. Taste has very moderate sweetness - it’s pretty dry, despite deep toffee. Nectarines, kumquats, mild hard spices. Just a _little_ window cleanerish. Nice balance, but genuinely highly hopped in both aroma and bitterness. Traditional but bold.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bluebetty (1019) - AUSTRALIA - DEC 27, 2010
On tap at Redoak. Review from notes. Pours a deep amber with good creamy slightly offwhite head. Nice looking beer. Good hop aromas with the usual suspects. Plenty of grapefruit and pine needles. Soft light caramel to hold it all together. Flavours are pretty much identical. Soft light caramel sweetness with plenty of resiny hops. OK Bitter finish. Probably my pick out of their beers.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 nate2g (1548) - Boomtown! / Waikato, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 21, 2009
Draught at Redoak, Sydney. I think the ratings here may have got mixed up with the American IPA that was on earlier in the year. Anyway they are two completely different beers. This one is based on the classic English style IPA and a it’s very good one at that. It has a finely balanced malt character of caramel and biscuit and the English hops do well for support - fruit and resiny. A good hop presence and a nice punch of bitterness but pleasant enough on the palate. Dry and bitter finish. A very nice IPA.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 davidm (1773) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - DEC 6, 2009
Tap. Delicious and strong. Aromas of grass, fruit, and caramel. Flavour is long-lasting, sweet start with a bitter ending. Silky in the palate, and medium body. Orange in colour, with a creamy lasting head.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dredd (636) - Bentleigh, AUSTRALIA - NOV 26, 2009
Nice balanced IPA. Aroma of the Fuggles comes through, the appearence is copper with thin head. Flavour is a nice initial burst of malt sweetness with some almost raisiny character coming through. Finish is nice and bitter but not too over the top. Certainly a classy IPA against some of the brutish IPA’s out at the moment.
