COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our first mead released in July 2001. To-date we receive more requests and attention for Black Raspberry Nectar then for any other one of our meads! With the mouth feel and texture of beer and the light taste of a lower alcohol mead this beverage is the very definition of "refreshing".

I’m not getting a lot of aroma here. Pours grape juice with little head and leaves no lacing. Really benefits from aerating because that releases the raspberry without the cloying sweetness you expect from mead. Clean finish. At 8% it really sneaks up on you.

Bottle. Pours pink with a fizzy off-white head. Sweet aroma of raspberries and honey. Flavor was sweet and fruity with notes of honey and had a slightly sweet and dry finish

Tap at Toronado SF. Knowing this was part of the blend on Veritas 001 and Veritas 002, I was looking forward to a real treat. The pour is a clear, ultra glowing raspberry juice with some thin, white bubbles. Not looking for a head in this one. Aroma is white grape juice, some plastic off-character, cherry juice box. Taste is cherry juicy juice, sweet candies, plastic, and actually there is a dominating taste that reminds me of a very specific flavor from my childhood: In Jacksonville, FL growing up there was a place called The Landing. This was a place to dock your boat and then go shopping and eat. It turned into a sort of B-rate mall in a fast delapidating downtown. In this very odd, mostly empty "mall" was a candy store that proved quite popular. One item they used to sell was an assortment of small, clear wax cola bottles that would be filled with various colored liquids. You would take one of the wax bottles (about the size of a finger) and rip off the top "cap" of wax to drink the sugar liquid. The cherry version of the waxed sugar bottles is almost exactly the flavor you get out of Redstone Black Raspberry Mead.

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear reddish pink pour with a medium white head. Aroma is honey, blackberry and raspberry. Flavor is slightly carbonated flavor with some berry character and honey with only a slight syrupy character. Semi sweet overall with a slightly dry finish.

[Tap] Pours a clear pink color with no head and fizzy carbonation. Aroma of sweet fruits and residual sugars. The taste is of raspberry, honey, vanilla, white wine and apples. Reminds me of a wine cooler with a little more of an alcohol warmth in the finish. The body is about average. This one is not really my thing.

Clear red with little apparent carbonation. Aroma is berry, but rather weakly so, with the vinous notes of a fruit wine. Taste is also like a diluted fruit wine, with some flight tartness, and a funky, sake-like fermentation character. It’s sweet and smooth, but more like an alco-pop at the end of it, with a light fizz and cloying sweetness. $7/22oz

On tap @ O’Brien’s Pub: poured into a chimay glass as a vibrant glowing red hue with no formation of head. The scent was sweet and tart and smelled like fresh fruit. Flavors were also sweet and fruity, but tasted like artifical cherry juice or strawberry jam. Also, a bit tart and tasting like a zinfandel wine, but a little harsher.

Poured from bottle. Very nice raspberry bouquet. Color was a faint, transparent violet or lavender. Taste is very dry, with the raspberry in the forefront followed by a slightly bitter finish. Very clean and slightly frizzante.
