From the bottle as part of a mead flight at Sunset Grille, 11/17/07.
Clear straw to pale gold, almost a chardonnay-like color, but with a hint more orange tones. Fully diminishing cluster of bubbles and flimsy legs left behind.
Aroma of dry, powdery sugar and old, plasticy vanillin extract. Little in the way of honey emanating in the nose, almost a straw-like dryness. Flavor is papery-astringent juniper twigs, in flavor and in texture. Not particularly flavorful, yet tremendously drying. Watery, straw-steeped-in-water sort of effect (must be the alfalfa) that is flimsy, not complex at all (I get barely any mead from this, just touches of light yeast dryness, vanillin and juniper). The only sweetness is a cheap, alcopop like candy/sugar. Stale and watery, though not sharp and fuselic for the 12 abv. Large, overly expansive bubbles further harry the palate and break up the flavors. In my mind, an analogy to beer makes this a spice/herb/vegetable beer that concentrates too much on the spices, letting slide the beer aspect. And even the spicing does not seem authentic and particularly well-done. Just atrocious.

Bottle @ Redstone. Clear yellow pour. Really herbal aroma. Lots of juniper notes, a touch of tartness, and some pepper. Just a mild honey aroma and sweetness. Fairly grassy. Flavor is herbs and pepper. Light tartness, juniper, and a mild honey flavor and sweetness. Meh.

Bottle @ Redstone. Pours a light yellow appearance with no head. A bit spicy, sprucey, somewhat herbal, tangy, sweet honey aroma. A bit bitter, juniper/spruce, somewhat herbal flavor while still being lightly sweet and fruity.

Bottle at home, thanks Bill! Pours clear golden with no head. Spices, different berries, honey and piney notes on the nose. Smooth mouthfeel. Taste is a bit tart with notes of pine trees, spices, lingon berries and juniper. Interesting mead!

Honey nose. Crystal clear yellow, still. Rather light body, alcohol less evident than expected, Honey flavor with a lemony tang. Not much in the way of juniper, but different.

Well, this one at least has the initial intensity in aroma and flavor of a traditional mead. It has a bit clingy finish to it but overall is pretty decent.

Stingy pour @ Blind Tiger. Wine glass. Clear, pale golden color. Sweet, cidery, maple & chamomile-ish scent. Taste is cider, honeycomb, plastic, & lots of yeast. Medicinal gummy flavor. Touch of tartness. Strangely salivating. Moderate body. Oaky. Better then I expected. Pretty good even. :)

Pour out of bottle is yellow, thin pour with an aroma of honey, juniper, pine needle/gin type aroma, with hints of oak. Taste is a mix of gin and honey, slight pine and oak notes. Just a bit too weird.

Clear bright yellow. Aroma of clove honey, nice herbal juniper, and a touch of pine. Pine hits first on the palate with a nice pungent honey flavor on a off sweet tone. Turns dry and boozy and big, mellowing out into a more juniper berry middle and warm finish. Lovely!
