Pour on tap, Avery Strong Ale fest 2012. Dark brownish pour with no head, aroma brought notes of lactic lemon, some vinegar notes, hints of grass going into sweet honey and floral notes, touch of biscuit and some fruity tones as well, but it was odd. Taste was a mix of fruity notes, some slight vinegar and lactic, hints of grass and herbal honey, finishing fairly funky but sweet. The mix didn’t work too well for me.

Tap @ Avery, doing the 10th Annual Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours hazy dark oraange with a small offwhite head. Aroma of honey, garden flowers, loght sourness. Taste is honey, wood, tartness, garden flowers. yeasty, some fruity sourness. Thin body, soft carbonation, lightly sour finish. 090312

At Avery’s 2012 Strong Ale Fest. Hazy copperish with a thin white head. Aroma of yeasty fruitiness, sticky resin hops, earthy funk, toffee, and some weird but delightful wood tone. Taste was bright and smooth, bringing a dry honey tone to some earthy funkiness and earthy toffee tones, with a touch of floral hops. Ends slightly bitter and slightly sweet.

Boulder Strong Ale Fest. Dark reddish orange appearance with a tan head. Tangy, red fruity, somewhat sour, somewhat wild, hoppy aroma that’s mostly La Folie, a little Le Terroir, and virtually no mead. Really nice balance act in the flavor between the mead’s sweetness and the sourness of La Folie. Tangy, dark cherry, mildly sour, sweet honey, citrusy flavor with a balanced finish. Quite nice.
