Bottle. Pours extremely lively, the head settles and stays a little fluffy white sticky covering. Smells of dolly mixtures, pineapple, grapefruit juice and resinous hops. Sweet up front and an amazing smoothness to it. Packed full of tropical fruits as it rolls over your tongue, pineapple, mango, mandarin, then the creeping bitter squeeze at the back which keeps on kicking all the while with that sweet malt backbone there balancing it out. Immensely impressed with this small brewery, my first encounter and wishing I’d swiped the whole range from the shop when I got this. Dubbed the Northern Kernel? Can see why

Huge offwhite head. Clear amber body with carbonation. Spicy tropical fruit aroma with resiny milky notes. Dry spicy tropical fruit taste with citric resiny notes. Mid-bodied. Fizzy mouthfeel. Dry wooden resiny spicy aftertaste with fruity citric notes. Nice, but a bit subdued. (0.33l bottle, from Beermoth, Manchester.)

Cask at The Rake, Borough Market on 10 Jun 2012. Poured a deep, slightly hazy amber, with an off white head. Aroma of tangerine, flowery hops and caramel. Prominent citrus hops in the flavour, with pine needles, tinned fruit and chewy grain. Finish was marmalade, spice and cake.

This beer has a cheesy, salty smell. The initial taste is sweet followed by a good deal of bitterness building. Rated by BrewTom

Hops on the aroma, but also a sherbet edge, loads of dry hops in the taste, with quite a thick mouthfeel. Tasty

Keg. Light hazy copper with a small off white head. Citrus zest, flowers, honey, light leafy green astringency. Medium body, medium sweet and bitter. Long bone dry finish. Carries the abv well. Solid, but the bitterness is a bit raw for my taste.

Cask at Southampton Arms. Dark amber, still, very small white head. Aroma is dank and dirty hops with light apricot. Body is medium, smooth. Taste is mostly alcohol, spice, resin. It’s a bit harsh and heavy going.

On tap at the Faraday, Epsom - just a taster. Pours clear light golden with a minimal white head. Aroma of orange and some paint. Taste is bitter and dry on the palate. Good stuff, plenty of body.

Bottle from drinkstore. Pours marmalade murky orange. Foam puffy head. Quite the looker. Aroma is peach, mango, citrus, orange rind, some hay and spice in there. Flavour mild sweetness, straw, biscuit, with citrus, lemon juice bitterness on finish. Body is light and doesn’t carry the flavours. Medium carbonation. Overall a good beer.
