Cask & Bottled; Regular.

A surprisingly approachable smoked porter, velvet smooth with a robust malt backbone. This is infused with Chipotles to give even more smokiness and a subtle hint of heat, a real winter warmer.

Bottle at home. Poured a very dark brown with a thin tan / grey head. Aroma is quite subtle, roasted malt, smoke, McVities factory in Levenshulme, some dark chocolate. Flavour has more smoke and chocolate. Nice mouthfeel, good finish, a really nice porter. More fine work from Red Willow.

Bottle from port sunlight beer festival. Black cola like beer with thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, a touch of licorice, a little smoke and some chilli. Taste is roasted malts, a little licorice and a moderate amount of chilli heat with a wisp of smoke. I like anything with chillis in and I like this.

Bottle from Microbrewery Outlet. Pours dark brown, almost black with a tight creamy head - almost carbonated with the natural fizz from being bottle conditioned. Aroma - Dark Chocolate with a light Coffee note. Slight hint of Chilli. Flavour - Lightly smoked, subtle chilli on the finish. Palate - Light, almost ’thin’ in the mouth. Quite an enjoyable drink, but I doubt if i could manage more than a pint before it became a little dull.
