Bottle at home, a couple of days past expiry date. Aroma is piny hops, strong pine resin, herbal and spicy notes, mint, touch of liquorice, roasted malt. Flavour is light sweet and medium bitter. Body is medium. Not your typical Black IPA, bit awkward actually, with the mint and herbal notes, strong carbonation, not bad but a bit messy.

Bottle, pours dark brown with a beige head. Dry and bitter, roasty, somewhat dank pine, citrus, liquorice. Nice mouthfeel, but could use more depth.

Brune foncée, noire claire, fine mousse beige. Senteurs d’agrumes et de résineux. Bouche sur le pamplemousse et les résineux, fin de bouche brulée et astringente liée aux malts noires, comme souvent sur les black IPA. Pas mal mais pas mon style...

Bottle from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: deep dark black beer with no carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: roasted malt, caramel notes. Black bread, grassy and herbal. Finish hoppy. Taste: medium body with roasted and caramel malt, well balanced with grassy hops. Nice floral notes and superb attenuation. Easy drinkable very nice beer and well balanced. Aftertaste: roasted malt, chocolate and wet bitterness.

Bottle from Ship In A Bottle. Appearance - opaque black with a nice fluffy fawn head. Nose - wood and plant stalk, something a bit menthol and resin generally. Not getting much chocolate or citrus. Taste - minty as f**k. At the very back there’s something lightly creamy that might resemble milk chocolate or instant coffee. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet drying texture and a long dry finish. Overall - where is the chocolate? Where is the citrus?

330ml bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours black with a thick ecru head. Aromas of wood, plant stalks, resin. Taste is woody, bitter, minty. Odd. Exhale is menthol! Faint creamy latte. Not getting on with this.

Bottle. 6.5%, just to be awkward. Murky, dark, cola brown. Messy, sticky, lasting, pale tan head. Blimey, this smells unusual! Coffee ice cream. Bonfire toffee. Liquorice. Earthy, woody mint hop. More coffee. Taste is soft, earthy bitter. Hints of chocolatey, malty sweetness. Smooth, full mouthfeel. Huge, earthy, woody bitter finish. I’ve no idea if I like this, or not. An oddity, that makes me wonder if it’s meant to be like this. Bit of an edit: As this warms it’s pretty clear this isn’t right. Score changed from 3.4 to 3.
