Bottle from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: deep dark black beer with no carbonation and medium brown head. Smell: roasted malt, caramel notes. Black bread, grassy and herbal. Finish hoppy. Taste: medium body with roasted and caramel malt, well balanced with grassy hops. Nice floral notes and superb attenuation. Easy drinkable very nice beer and well balanced. Aftertaste: roasted malt, chocolate and wet bitterness.

Bottle from Ship In A Bottle. Appearance - opaque black with a nice fluffy fawn head. Nose - wood and plant stalk, something a bit menthol and resin generally. Not getting much chocolate or citrus. Taste - minty as f**k. At the very back there’s something lightly creamy that might resemble milk chocolate or instant coffee. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet drying texture and a long dry finish. Overall - where is the chocolate? Where is the citrus?

330ml bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours black with a thick ecru head. Aromas of wood, plant stalks, resin. Taste is woody, bitter, minty. Odd. Exhale is menthol! Faint creamy latte. Not getting on with this.

Bottle, 330 ml. Courtesy of and shared with JFK10000. Pours dark brown, medium beige head. Hoppy aroma and flavor. Roasted malts, bit coffeish, pine. Finishes with good amount of bitterness. Quite drinkable.

Bottle. 6.5%, just to be awkward. Murky, dark, cola brown. Messy, sticky, lasting, pale tan head. Blimey, this smells unusual! Coffee ice cream. Bonfire toffee. Liquorice. Earthy, woody mint hop. More coffee. Taste is soft, earthy bitter. Hints of chocolatey, malty sweetness. Smooth, full mouthfeel. Huge, earthy, woody bitter finish. I’ve no idea if I like this, or not. An oddity, that makes me wonder if it’s meant to be like this. Bit of an edit: As this warms it’s pretty clear this isn’t right. Score changed from 3.4 to 3.

0,33l bottle at home. BB 31.Aug.2016. dark brown / almost black color, small tan head. smells of licorice, resin, some pines, exotic fruits, spices, bit unclean, peppery. decent smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of licorice, spices, resin, lightly citric, some grass, again very light uncleanliness (better than on the smell), lightly glueish. finishes dry and lightly bitter with notes of licorice and spices. This could have been a great beer if it wasnt for the off-notes. It was still drinkable, but the off-notes were distracting. I dont know how fresh my bottle was, but I only bought it 2-3 weeks ago. gets a bit more unpleasant when warm (-0.1)

330ml bottle at home. Very dark brown with a nice creamy white head. Not too intensive aroma of coffee, hops, chocolate and cherry. A bit too dry, average carbonation, lacks body. Not too many hops in flavour, bitterness mainly coming from coffee, bitter aftertaste. Doesn’t feel fresh. Moderately enjoyable but surely not one of the best.

33 cl bottle.
Pours black color with a large off-white head. Ashy malty aroma, licorice, some spice notes and grapefruits, hops are there too. Licorice and burnt malts on the flavor, some yeasty notes ruin the show a bit, slightly bready, some citrus notes and wood on the finish. Quite malty IBA with mild off-notes. Decent anyway.

Pours a dark brown color, topped with a big and super lasting creamy beige head Gentle sweet fruity nose with a tad of roasty character. A slight resin feel, but mostly sweet fruits and later some chocolate. Moderate bitterness, more on the gentle side with a more chocolatey finish. Sweet feel. Medium light body, lasting bittery aftertaste.

Black pour, slightly translucent, vigorous head like the ones encountered in very fresh ales. Tons of pine aroma, together with burnt sugar and some funkiness. The taste is dominated by pine, but it’s not so fresh, for some reason. Bitter aftertaste, moderately enjoyable.
