Business in Flint gave me a chance to do a “pubcrawl across Michigan.” Had to make this my first stop when I saw this beer was a 2003 GABF Gold Medalist.
Yes! Creamy and roasty, not oily at all. Despite a good coffee flavor, the taste is somehow “light.” Its dark stout head just seems to add to the chewy texture. Worth the trip to discover this roomy brewpub/restaurant. (Additionally: The pub lists this beer as having 30 IBU's).

In tap at the resturuant, pours deep brown, slim silky cream hued head. Nose of roasted malt. Taste follows, slightly sweet, slick creamy mouth with a light body. As advertised.

Growler: The aroma consists of milk chocolate, vanilla, espresso, and faint roast. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a large khaki head with good retention. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate. The finish has roasted coffee, nuts, and a hint of vanilla. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

From the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center Denver 18/09/2010 Roast aroma. Dark coloured a little rich on the palate and hoppy with a dry and slightly burnt roast finish.

On tap at the brewery. Black pour, tan head. Taste was roasty and slightly sweet--lactose sugar? Nicely balanced hop finish. Medium, chewy palate. A really decent example. Much better than their "Russian Imperial Stout," which wasn’t very Russian or Imperial.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 MBG Fall Fest. Poured black with a deep brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of cream and roasted malts that balanced nicely. Flavor began with a sweet cream note with a sweet roasted malt finish and a bit of sweet chocolate to round out the beer.
