Dogbrick (2209), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 14, 2007 This beer pours a dark brownish amber color, considerably lighter than most Doppelbocks. Medium off-white head with good staying power, and decent lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, nuts and hops. Medium-bodied with a robust toasted malt character, along with a good amount of hops and some spices as well. The finish is refreshing and crisp with a nutty aftertaste. Overall this beer doesn’t look like a lot of Doppelbocks but it does a good job just the same. brownalegirl (199), Fountain, Michigan, USA Jul 25, 2003 Very good. I was not impressed with any of the other Redwood beers, but this one stuck out as healthy and fresh and interesting. hennes (932), Fountain, Michigan, USA Jun 30, 2003 Well, the sign on the wall claimed this as a dopple, though it is maibock light in color. It does have some smoky and spicy tones once you get it going, so it dopples a bit as it warms, with a generous, quick drying heat of hops. Interesting brown sugar note in the close. Definitely one of the most engaging and fun brews to try at this brewery.
