2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottled. Mahogany colour, minimal head. Fruity nose. Sweet and medium bodied. Sweaty and un-firm, vague notes of coffee and over-ripe plums. Syrupy and strange, but with some odd rustic charm.

Bottle. Not much to say. A heavier and much maltier version of the legendary Ale No. 16. An easy-to-drink barley wine.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
33 cL bottle. Pours amber, clear, with a crispy and somewhat lasting light orange head. Roasted caramel malt aroma. Soft sweet malty flavour with a mellow bitterness in the finish. Clear roasted note. Somewhat more sweet than the HP Bock but otherwise quite reminiscent of that. Nice.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark brown with a decent head. The aroma is very malty and sweet - and I have a problem with beers that is malty and sweet in a monotonous way. The flavour is very malty and sweet with notes of caramel. The finish has a very light, grapefruit-like bitterness. This style isn’t a favourite of mine, but I think it’s nice that it’s able to hide the alcohol this well.
