Regia Extra is produced in El Salvador since 1959. It is an exquisite beer of intense flavor, brewed carefully with a long process of maturation for the delight of our consumers.

Despite appearances, this is not a beer for drinking on a warm day. This is a beer for washing your car with. The aroma is redolent of urea and warm skunk. The palate is bitter with no redeeming qualities of flavor. The bottle may look cool, but I recommend passing on this one and just buying a Colt 45 or an OE if you’re looking for volume.

Ah, El Salvador... where’ve you been all my life. My first pale lager as a US resident and it doesn’t disappoint. Pale straw colour, thick creamy white head. Aroma of straw, grass, and latex paint. Flavour is fairly watery, thin lager malt, grass and hay hoppiness and a decidedly vegetal sweetness. Reminds me of every beer I drank in Fiji. Thanks for reminding me of why I don’t drink Central American beer.

Bottle from a pretty chill Latin American food market located next to Mekong. The pour’s extremely light gold, champagne-like in appearance. The nose certainly can’t be confused for champagne. Loads of paper and creamed corn. Unmistakable developing-world pale lager notes. The taste is pretty skunky. Not fun. Sugared bread. Bizzarely thick. Cardboard on the finish. Pretty nasty. Light body, weirdly oily. Super fizzy. Overall, extremely poor.

Fast disappearing white head, pale yellow body. Mild aroma of hops, corn and rice. Thin in the flavor, malt and hops with a slight citrusy tone. Just another bland international lager....

1 liter bottle. Light corn malt aroma. Light yellow color with small head. Barely detectable corn malt flavor with no body at all - Absolutely needs a lime wedge - This is just barely different from mineral water but at the very least, there are no bad flavors and would be a good thirst quencher.

Bottle. 5.3% though, not 4.3%. Pretty weak, and watery. Skunky, and well all together not great.

Huge pint + bottle poured into my trusty stein- poured an extremely thin yellow- kind of like adding 5 drops of yellow food coloring to a pint of water, like that, heavy carbonation. White head bubbled away to nothing, aroma of a weak malt with even a hint of palm tree (don’t ask me, that’s what my nose picked up). Hits the mouth with a very thin body, malt and hops are distinguishable, not overpowering at all, merely they say Hello, then Goodbye in the same breathe. So, where is the Budweiser?
