EithCubes (4233) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 17, 2006
UPDATED: JUN 9, 2012 Bottle. Sweetish caramel and grain aroma, and, yes, pivnizub, I think you’re right: honey. Clear nut brown with a short off-white head. Light, watery body. Toffee and astringent bitter taste, light hops. Light roast/toast. Umm... I’m not really wanting to finish this. [July 2006: 2.8]

Bottle by 21.10.12. Nose of faint fruit and sickly-sweet caramel. Body is a pretty, deep copper penny with a short white head. Taste adds some cracker and flavored international coffee, but the fruit is still unsure of itself. Dries with firm bitterness on the low end. Light but not watery body. Improved with volume. [May 2012: 2.9]

MoritzF (7835) - Bochum, GERMANY - JUN 27, 2006
(bottle) Clear, chestnut brown colour with a short foamy beige head. Shy aroma of toasted malt and caramel. Moderately sweet and thin malty taste, also slightly toasted with a touch of caramel; very dense hoppy and light bitter finish. Rather disappointing Landbier.

pivnizub (8046) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JAN 10, 2006
Bottle (Landbierparadies): Light amber coloured, quite stable off-white head; malty nose, caramel and "a taste of honey"; slightly sweetish malty flavour, with a faint touch of bitterness, a bit sticky; sweetish malty, caramelly finish with a touch of roasted malts, only an illusion of bitterness. Not so well balanced, a bit too much on the sweet side................

JorisPPattyn (7363) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - OCT 10, 2005
Clear, but dark-amber beer, with orange highlights; smaller off-white head, fast gone. Earthy & leafy notes, dark malts; "Loden" (felt) aroma, bit meaty even. Expressly dark malts taste, chocolate, even roasted coffee; bitterish finish with a good hops component. Jez says toffee, but only the roasted, bitter flavour half, not the sweet-sugary. Very unexpectedly thin, nearly watery palate, as if all the above is just flavour dissolved in water (great! - that’s the definition of beer). I would have expected more palate from such a beer, certainly at 5.5% ABV. Palate is seriously lacking, and therefore unbalances the whole.

Bottle. Chocolate malt aroma. Medium amber color with small head. Balanced sweetness and bitter chocolate malt flavor. Medium body. An interesting mixture of a dunkel and a landbier.

pivo (2540) - GERMANY - MAR 28, 2005
Light caramelly nose with some fresh grain aromas, deep copper-brown color, low lathery head. Sweet sugary malt with a little nut. Light woody bitter end. Watery and thin. Odd balance and taste. Not the best landbier.

YogiBeera (2435) - Hamburg, GERMANY - MAR 28, 2005
Murky brown color, no head to speak off. Light clay nose. Crisp, slightly hoppy also grainy with a weak grapefruit like finish.Over carbonated which ruins the taste anyway. Thin body. I wasn’t fond of this.

rauchbier (3409) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - SEP 24, 2004
Bottle, from Vroni’s in Bamberg. Amber bronze, moderate white head and moderate condition. Gentle sweet toffee and malt aromas with a vaguely spirity alcohol note. Sweet malt with a touch more toffee in the nose and a low gentle hoppiness. Toffee dominated finish.

bierkoning (9035) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - JUN 14, 2004
Hint of coffee and grapes. Clean, but unremarkable. Low in flavor and aroma, especially a dunkel. Some would call it subtle, I guess. Slight bitter aftertaste.

jonas (5066) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - JAN 5, 2004
UPDATED: SEP 27, 2005 Aromatic hop and malt aroma. Brown amber, low but creamy head. Not much substance - very restrained malt flavor, a bit roast and chocolate, herbal finish . Watery body - bready and herbal aftertaste.
