Pours a clear straw gold with a 1 finger, creamy, white head. Aroma is grass, grainy malt, straw, cereal, and hints of tree fruit. Flavor is sweet malt and heavy cereal grain up front, leading to planty honey, grass, dry straw, bamboo shoots and toast. Palate is suprisingly thick and pretty creamy on entry a little slick in the middle and neutral to dry finish. Nice summer quencher.

Happy German Beer Day!! Had to have something German and this seemed appropriate. Very nice Kolsch, beautifully clear with the nice crisp malty/corn flavor that I love in Kolsch. A little sweet, but not overly so. Definitely a great example of the style.

Bottle, light nose with pine plus hints of hay, peach and vanilla. Sweet on the tip of the tongue then turning dry and a little bitter. Crisp and light with not so much body.

Interesting--for a "serious" German beer, this tastes quite lager-ish---and indeed after reading it is in fact a lagered style. Hoppy on the foretaste, hoppy afterward, but a distinct kind of hops. Light and crisp. I suspect that this is to Heineken/Carlsberg what wild predecessor varieties are to modern commercial varietals of the potato, the chicken, etc ($3.69++/500ml)

Bottle in Dortmund, Germany. I found this beer to be rather offensive. Nose is corn with a slight hop. As it was a bottle I had to guess at what it looked like. The taste was metallic, one-dimensional and rather nasty. Corn and hops were all out of wack and I think I might have offended the emo-bartender because she gave me the finger when I cashed out with the beer WELL more than half full. I replied with the shocker, because this beer was shockingly offensive.

On tap at Wurstküche. Crystal clear light golden with one finger white head, fair retention. Lager yeast and some sweet malts and honey atop some husky grain and light noble hops. Flavor adds just a hint of Concord grape up front in the flavor that sticks around for a while, otherwise his beer is the same as the flavor. Finishes pretty clean with low bitterness, refreshing. Light body with low to moderate carbonation, was hoping for a little more. Good easy drinking beer.
