3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
I think we should have a name easily pronounceable by Americans. They don’t have to be pronouncing it correctly, even, but they shouldn’t be confused about how to pronounce it in their own way.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from a corner shop in Cologne. Pours clear straw with a big creamy white head, high carbonated. Sweet soft malty aroma, floral hops. Taste is moderate sweet with a strange metallic note not the best from Cologne.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at Khyber Pass. Clear gold pour with a solid fizzy/foamy white head that mostly disappears. Toasted corn nuts. Expected milled yeasty/bready notes. Feels slightly more substantial than your standard Kolsch. Just enough astringency in the finish to keep you coming back.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Notes from BJCP tasting session, 2-4oz sample from 12oz bottle
Aroma: light malt with grainy sweetness, slight fruitiness - maybe apples, pears, or honey, floral hops, clean and fresh
Appearance: pale gold color with brilliant clarity, white head, not persistent
Taste: Grainy sweet almost corny, subtle spicy hops, near fruitiness or honey, very clean, low bitterness
Palate: medium body, average carbonation, smooth and crisp
Overall: A very clean kolsch. Well done with a slight fruitiness or honey taste. Aroma was very pleasant, slightly lower on bitterness than I expected, but overall a solid Kolsch.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
500ml bottle (Petrol station between Dusseldorf and Olpe)
Even though it’s warm, there are no esters in this. Utterly indistinguishable from pale lager. Taste likewise. Some hoppy bitter finish, but it’s papery and rough.
