COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Craftsman is our Chocolate oatmeal stout. To brew it we add a proportion of organic oatmeal to the mash for a velvety smooth mouthfeel. and plenty of dark roasted coca nibs to the mash, boil and fermentor. The result is a rich, intense stout with notes of dark chocolate that gradually gives way to a subtle hop finish. With malt, coffee and chocolate flavours, Craftsman pairs well with any dessert, or match it with hearty fare such as venison and beef.

Bottle from the Dockyard, Newcastle. Amazing beer, nice and thick, with a fantastic chocolate aroma, and a sweet velvety chocolate taste that lingers. Extremely enjoyable beer here.

Sample I got fizzed quite a bit, if not volcanically, so have a towel handy. It pours a warm sable with a very thick, fluffy, rather persistent tan head. Rick, smoky aroma has notes of quality coffee, semi-sweet chocolate, caramel and brown sugar with some nutty and earthy hints.. Slightly powdery texture has average body but plenty of fizz, and leaves a chocolaty, earthy finish. Overall, a well-crafted beer.

Pours black with a thin lasting coffee head, very smooth with a mild chocolate flavour. A great beer.

Lovely dark colouring with a coffee coloured ring. Very strong chocolate aroma. Taste of roasted coffee and chocolate and a bitter after taste - I like it.

500ml bottle. Black hue with average sized tan frothy head which quickly and fully diminished, would have given a 5/5 for appearance if the head didnít disappear so quickly. Wonderful heavy dark chocolate coffee and toasted malt aromas. Taste is moderately chocolaty sweet , finishing with a touch of burnt coffee and dark Ghana bitterness. Medium body, smooth, slightly chalky feel, soft carbonation. It seems I liked this a lot more than most, each to their own I guess. Perhaps my previous good experiences with Renaissance beers have made me a little biased?

Lovely dark black into the glass, nicely carbonated to style with a light tan head that fades to a thin covering. Chocolate is there in the aroma but not overbearing, I think Iíve got it a little cold. Some upfront sweetness, chocolate, caramel and some bitterness in the finish. The oatmeal makes this beer in my opinion, itís just fantastically smooth and so easy to drink. Iíd like to see this push a bit more on the chocolate. Another great beer from a brewer/brewery that consistently impresses me.

complex aroma consisting of cocoa, coffee, nuts, hops and hickory. pours jet black with thick beige head and nice lacing. flavor isn? t as sweet as expected with but with intense notes of cocoa, vanilla and roasted malts. finish is indeed smooth and dry, with medium lasting bitterness. It remains true to style without much carbonation and an uncharacteristically low alcohol percentage by volume. a lovely stout.

Poured a decent tan head on a black body but it didní t last long. Dark chocolate on the nose with a hint of coffee. Taste is more cocoa than chocolate, fairly smooth and easily drinkable, a little bit more body would make it a better oatmeal stout to me.
